I really liked the concept of this book, and whilst I didn’t think it worked particularly well as a crime novel, I did enjoy how it critiques the ever-popular true crime genre of books and podcasts. I did listen to an audio copy of this read by Julia Whelan, and I thought that the narration was very well done. I think that for me, the main reason that this book didn’t work as well as I wanted it to was the there were so many different plot points, and these were not always fully expanded on, and sometimes they were also either just dropped, or had twists that were just a little too convenient. I really liked how the book started, and the opening chapters made me hope that it would be a 5-star read, but in my opinion the book was just too long, and a closer edit would have helped to take out the more superfluous stuff that the book seemed to get bogged down by the further on I read.
