CybercrrEDU | 34 comments I'm not a big fan of smut. I feel like it distracts from the plot. I don't mind romances in fantasy though just not main point.

It's been a very long time since I've read anything fantasy. I was discouraged from reading as a kid. I used to read a lot. I grew up in a cult. Iykyk reading is dangerous...

I've read part of the wheel of time series. That was the last one I picked up but it was only at book 5 at the time.

CybercrrEDU | 34 comments It may take a long time before I dip into romance or smut bc of trauma. So please its very important for me to find cleaner work until I can rebuild my sense of self.

Theft of Swords by Michael by Michael Sullivan (no romance, great series)
Hope you enjoy it!! : )

Susanne | 102 comments I can highly recommend The Chronicles of the Troop series by Colin Darney, starting with Resthaven. Its building up into a very interesting epic fantasy series without being dark or overly gruesome. There are 3 or 4 books out with the next one due out later this year. There's a gentle romance between two of the main characters but its a sideline at best. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Ashley R | 61 comments I agree! Sometimes it feels as though the smut is the main appeal and the story is left on the back burner.

Sophie | 116 comments Harry Potter(never too old to read it, in my opinion everyone needs to read it), the Grishaverse(Shadow And Bone(trilogy), Six Of Crows(duology), King Of Scars(duology), plus other books that goes along the lines(quite a few), Percy Jackson And The Olympian’s, I really like these series and a lot of other people do too, hope you’d like them!

message 16: by cockatiel forger (new)

cockatiel forger | 31 comments gryphon insurrection. it's a creature fantasy with griffin pov.

there are romances but they're minor and not too important to the plot. there's also no smut or swearing.
I'd say the violence is around warrior cats level, being it's not too graphic but it gets the point across.

they're technically adult books but read as young adult fiction due to the clean content.

(view spoiler)

Abby E. | 69 comments Fantasy-ish book. Stepping into a kingdom trapped in slowed time. It's a retelling story of Brigadoon.

Plot:
Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon (Doon Series)
Doon focuses on two best friends, Veronica and Mackenna, alternating from each of their points of view. Veronica, hoping to escape from her life's many troubles, agrees to spend the summer with Mackenna in Scotland. But everything changes when Veronica begins to have visions of a mysterious boy in a Scottish kilt.
