Marcus | 5 comments * Title: Venus and Adonis
* Author(s) name(s): William Shakespeare
* ISBN (or ASIN): n/a
* Publisher: William Leake
* Publication Date Year: 1599
* Publication Date Month:
* Publication Date Day:
* Page count: 60
* Format (such as paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, etc): Paperback
* Description: Sixth Quarto (Q6), "Imprinted at London for William Leake, dwelling in Paules Churchyard, at the signe of the Greyhound. 1599." Shakespeare's minor epic poem, originally published in 1593, is the story of Venus and Adonis freely adapted from Ovid.
* Language (for non-English books): English

Notes: Format is a Quarto, if that is allowed to say on Goodreads. Otherwise it can technically be called a paperback because the printers did not bind the books in 1599, that would have been something the person who purchased it would do later.

I am reading this edition at the Folger Shakespeare Library. It is the Sixth Quarto (Q6), if there needs to be a distinction made in the title. It is the only surviving copy of Q6 left on earth.

The cover is a scanned image from the Folger Shakespeare Library, from the source, Public Domain image.

Marcus | 5 comments Calling attention to this again. This is not a facsimile. This is a unique printing, 1599, different than the 1593 edition that is listed on goodreads as a facsimile. Grateful to all.
