Most of the times it's 3. One on Kindle, One Paperback and one audiobook.

Usually one if the book is compelling enough but if I find myself in an unexpected slump, I’ll read 2-3 books at once😭
I use to read only one at a time. Now mostly I read two, but I find if I like one more I will read mostly that one.
i don't like to read multiple books at a time but last year i was reading like 8 books a time. but know i keep it to one but sometimes i read 3-4 and 4 is my max right now
usually 2 at most 24. I'm not very proud of it. If I get bored, I start a new one and jump around until I finish them.

2.. one physical/e-book and and an audiobook
Usually two, I like to read both fiction and non fiction so I can choose according to my mood. But sometimes I find myself down rabbit holes of as many es four. I'm impatient when a book is very hyped up or when someone close to me is reading something I like and makes me want to re-read and comment
Usually one. If I started reading other books, it means I need a break on my current book. Last time I was reading three books. One of them became a DNF book, One is a struggle to finish- persevered because of booktok, and the third book is a re-read so I'm slow with it
Typically 3. One in each format. But sometimes, if a book is going slow or if I catch a GN that looks too good, I will start more. I don't think I've had more than 5 started at once-no matter what my Goodreads says (I add it as currently reading if it's a library check out). I have been known to double down on format, keep a physical book at home and at work type of thing.
I have 3 in progress right now! With my the book I'm most into my #1, one on audiobook for on the go + another physical copy! Then I have my stack of TBR for next, some being the next in the series! :)

I have 3 going now, if one gets boring I move to the next and go back and forth. I finally started quit reading a book if it was too boring, not wasting my time of them anymore too many good books out there to waste time on reading one I don't like
I usually have 2-4 going at once. A physical book from the library, a kindle book and a digital book from the library (my kindle is old so I can't get these transferred to my kindle so I read it on my tablet) and also an audiobook. Just depends though, sometimes I will just read 1 at a time.

It can be any number ad infinitum with me since I often read books for some elements in them research wise, so end up picking one for something, one for something else, etc., while actually reading cover to back-cover another one before I picked any of the previously mentioned one.
