What are some historical books that you love that don't fall into any of the other categories?

There's a really good graphic novel series aimed for kids called Nathan Hale's hazardous tales by a different Nathan Hale. Anyway, there are like 12 books so far, and each of them are on a different historical event. You definitely want to read the first one first, but after that, it doesn't matter. So if you have siblings you think would be interested, I would definitely recommend them.
One of my favorite American Revolution books is Spy! by Anna Myers. It’s a duel POV historical fiction about Nathan Hale through the eyes of Nathan Hale and one of his students (I think the boy was 12). It’s SO good imo!
Anna Myers has another book that takes place during the Revolutionary War. When I think of it I'll write it down!
I'm curious to know if anyone has any Vietnam War fiction recs (like from the soldier's perspective)? I took a look at the My Name is America one and was like nope 🫣(asking because I'm working on a Vietnam book and wondered if there are any other clean ones out there)
Why not the My Name is America one?I haven't read anything on Vietnam and I don't know anything about it so I can't help, sorry!
I read the WWII one and while it was ok it had a little too much language (not really bad words, but I didn't feel like it was appropriate for a kids book) and I could tell there were places the author hadn't done enough research. Also I looked up the Vietnam one and based on reviews it looks like there's content in there that I don't approve of (again, REALLY not appropriate for a kids book).
Oh weird. I've always liked those books but I've read more of the Dear America books than I have the My Name is America
Yeah, I haven't read any besides the WWII one, but I imagine they probably have less content if they're not about a soldier.(Plus Vietnam used to be a pretty controversial topic, still is sometimes, and I'm not sure how a mainstream publisher would handle it. I'm majorly anti-revisionist, and inaccurate representation REALLY bugs me 🫠)

If you're looking for a soldier's actual perspective of the Vietnam War, then you might be interested in American Heroes. It's a collection of short interviews/narratives of soldiers who've served in American wars from WWII to the recent Afghanistan conflict. So far in what I've read (about ¼ of the book) there have been at least three accounts of the Vietnam War; I thought them to be informative on this conflict especially since they're told by soldiers who actually were involved there.
Do be aware that there are is some profanity in the book, so just wanted to give you a heads-up.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...That reminds me of this book. I haven't read this particular one but I've read others by this author and some of my siblings love some of his others. You might wanna check it out.
