Our more contemporary English mystery group read for April is The Case of the Canterfell Codicil by P.J. Fitzsimmons - a new author for this group!

Who will be joining in with this one?

JenniferAustin (austinrh) The Case of the Canterfell Codicil is my first book by P.J. Fitzsimmons. So far it is frothy and funny! I am so pleased to be reading it!

Amy James | 25 comments I rarely read anything by contemporary authors because of being so drawn to British Golden Age detective fiction and to anything by Wodehouse. These are my escapes. But, The Canterfell Codicil is in the tradition of everything I love about my favorites. Anty has a sharp wit but it is all tongue-in-cheek and meaning no harm. I loved everything about Vickers! JenniferAustin described the book as "frothy and funny" and that is so true. The plot is complicated and the rapping-up at the end is a bit fantastic, but all questions are answered, no holes left in the story, and it is completely satisfying. I very definitely recommend the book.
