Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments Is there a historical book you just read that has some not so great content? If you want you can post that here so that others know to steer clear of it, or at least know what they're getting into before reading it.

Or is there a book that looks super good but you just want to make sure before you start it? You can ask about it here and we'll try to get you questions answered!

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments I’ve heard that The Diary of Anne Frank has sexual content in it, I’d always assumed that would be a great book but since seeing some of the reviews I want to get a copy and read it ASAP before one of my siblings finds it and reads it unknowingly. Can anyone confirm or deny this info for me? I’ll still probably read it anyways but I would like to know.

Catherine (semi active) | 273 comments Love this thread!

I've never read it before (though I want to), but this is from a quick Google search (Common Sense Media):

"Peter once shows Anne the male reproductive organs of a cat. However, the sexual content here is not graphic and should not be as offensive as it seems to be."

Catherine (semi active) | 273 comments Maybe that's what your source was referring to? 🤔

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ once I read the book I’ll do a follow up about it. If it’s just something like that I’m not worried, growing up on a farm that’s no shocker 🤣, I just want to make sure there isn’t something concerning in it.

✧Bella✧ | 1121 comments There were some things in The Diary of Anne Frank that made me uncomfortable. She and Peter discuss things that I felt should not be discussed by a girl and boy, and there was one thing Anne said to one of her female friends that I honestly don't even want to type here. Smh. Seems to me like Anne had problems. Also, a woman they were staying with was flirting with Anne's father if I remember correctly. (They were both married to other people)

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments Ok good to know. I’ll mention something to my mom that way she’s aware and doesn’t just get it and my little sis ends up reading it.

✧Bella✧ | 1121 comments Glad to help. I def wouldn't recommend that kids read it.

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments Ok. Good to know. I REALLY need to find a copy so I can just read it and know what it is. I’m gonna start looking around. Honestly I’d probably settle for an ebook.

The Mines of Moriah | 29 comments There are edited versions of The Diary of Anne Frank that they use in schools. I'm not sure who published them though.

I have heard that too.

Jeremiah (Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk!!) | 224 comments There is a new graphic novel on Anne Frank and it has Anne Frank showing a boy a graphic picture of a girl's private parts.

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments 😲😧 Ok that's just bad. Horrible.

Jeremiah (Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk!!) | 224 comments From books I have read on Anne Frank it seems to me either she had some problems or authors are adding things to the books. In a bad way.

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments She went through a lot so it wouldn't surprise me if she has some problems

Ann♥♪♪♪♪ (musicisablessing) | 44 comments I believe a huge injustice has been done to Anne Frank by the adaption that was based very loosely on parts of her diary which were then cut up, twisted as well as stuff that was flat out made up about her. Most of the graphic novel isn't even recognizable to anyone who's read her diary. Anne Frank would be appalled at how her words have been mutilated. No one should base their opinion on Anne Frank and what she was saying/thinking by what the graphic novel adaption projects.

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments Yeah. But I’ve also heard not good things about her original diary

Ann♥♪♪♪♪ (musicisablessing) | 44 comments The version I read maybe was edited.

Elisabeth (Bets) (livingforjesus) | 1194 comments Ok.

The one I’m gonna read just to see how it is and if it’s appropriate or not is The Diary of a Young Girl

Ann♥♪♪♪♪ (musicisablessing) | 44 comments There does seem to be a number of versions. I'll look at some at the library, too.
