Josephine Dakota Modeen: Beautiful. Noble. Deadly.
Having passed the gruelling entry programme and become the first woman to be accepted into Australia’s elite Special Forces, and earning the Medal for Gallantry in action, ex-soldier Jo Modeen is left wondering what’s next. And for a civilian with her unique skills, the options are somewhat limited.
When unexpectedly contacted by her old CO, Ben Logan, now team leader with an Australian national security agency, she knows it’s not a social call. What she doesn’t know is how it will change her life….

Ruth is widowed, her sons are grown, and she lives in an isolated beach house outside of town. Her routines are few and small. One day a stranger arrives at her door, looking as if she has been blown in from the sea. This woman—Frida—claims to be a care worker sent by the government. Ruth lets her in.
Now that Frida is in her house, is Ruth right to fear the tiger she hears on the prowl at night, far from its jungle habitat? Why do memories of childhood in Fiji press upon her with increasing urgency? How far can she trust this mysterious woman, Frida, who seems to carry with her, her own troubled past? And how far can Ruth trust herself?

**I am retracting this recommendation due to limited availability.
This one looks interesting:
Heist by Robert Schofield
Heist
'Ford laid his fingertips gently on the cut in his shoulder where the bullet had clipped him. His best chance would be to hitch a ride south at the first opportunity, before the police started looking for him. He was alone, enveloped in the monstrous silence of the desert. Free and alone, without assistance and without excuse.'
Left for dead in the desert, framed as the inside man in a bullion robbery at the remote mine site where he works, and fearing that his daughter and ex-wife have been abducted from their home in Perth, Ford must cross a thousand miles of wilderness to find his family.
Ford forms a fragile alliance with Doc and Banjo, a pair of fugitive bikers, and Kavanagh, a cop from the Gold Stealing Detection Unit who's found herself shut out of the case. As this unlikely team sets out across the Outback, they are pursued by cops, mercenaries and bikers, each group with its own agenda for preventing Ford from reaching Perth and uncovering a conspiracy that spreads through the upper strata of Western Australian life.

Please check the list of previous group reads as we may have had other books we've read that might fit this theme, and they aren't eligible to be nominated again. Also make sure that you are following the other guidelines below.
1. One nomination per group member. The books must be nominated with a Goodreads link by clicking on 'add book/author'. If a book does not have a Goodreads link, it will not be added to the poll.
2. Books need to be readily available, ie, in print (able to buy new or in ebook format).
3. Books should have some degree of action/adventure content.
4. Past group reads are not eligible to be nominated again. The past group discussions remain open for members to comment. You can view the list of past reads here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
5. Books must be either standalone or first in a series (or they may be later in a series if constructed to be read as a standalone).
6. Authors are asked not to nominate their own books or solicit nominations from members.
The poll will go up on March 26th.
