April 2015 Reading Challenge: Guilty Pleasure

This month, we’re erasing the stigma of guilty pleasures! In April, pick up a book that you’d normally consider to be one of your guilty pleasures and let the world know.

I love Dance Moms and I'm ready to let the world know by reading Abby Lee Miller's Everything I Learned About Life, I Learned in Dance Class.

Guilty. I listen to audiobooks---lots of audiobooks...I have heard countless times the following response: "That's not "really" reading." To which I say: "Whatever."

If you can get past that one, another guilty pleasure for me is fiction in general. I find it relaxing...escapist...and harmless.

At the moment, I am listening to two books. One is a historical fiction by Francine Rivers on CD, "Her Mother's Hope." She tells about Marta, a young woman born in Switzerland who makes her way to Canada, then to the United States in the early part of the 20th century.

The other is a new (to me) author and series through LPL's Greengold libraries site. It's Mary Jane Clark's "To Have and to Kill," the first in her Wedding Cake Mystery series. Piper Donovan is a sometime actress and working waitress whose soap opera character has been killed off. Fortunately, the character she played returns during another character's dream. She moves back in with her parents and helps her mom in the bakery, and...somehow she finds herself in the middle of murders.

Free ebooks abound, both print and audio through Overdrive and several other platforms, such as EBSCO, Britannica, Tumblebooks, and AudioBookCloud---all found via the ebook link on our homepage.

It's a fun way to indulge in some guilty pleasures without the guilt of purchasing the book!

I love a good culinary mystery, especially when the audio narrator is good!

I get most of my library materials on Greengold; it's awesome!

I will admit to indulging in a whirlwind romance from Nora Roberts or something from Danielle Steele when the mood hits me just right.

Anything on gardening, decorating, cooking or crafting I love. All the things I would love to do if only time would permit!
