Was good to find this group as I was struggling to work out what genre my book was, I thought spiritual fiction, but visionary fiction sounds much better.
A little-known genre that's gradually gaining momentum. I think the term visionary fiction might have been coined by the American author Michael Gurian: "The Miracle" (2003) "An American Mystic" (2000) but I might be wrong.
Sonya, You can find the history of Visionary Fiction at our website http://visionaryfictionalliance.com/ or in our fairly new Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visionar... article
Tim, I agree with Sonya; your book sounds very interesting & I also enjoyed your post about Etidorpha.I hope you publish soon & also wish you the best no matter the method you finally choose.
Good luck.
Thanks Tim; I have many readers, some now good friends, from across the pond.Let us know when your book is completed.
Your Future looks promising.
Thanks, okay shouldn't be long, I'm having it edited will then have a couple more read throughs, then publish....

Thank you for this link to your 2009 Writers Journal article, which defines so beautifully the essence of visionary fiction. I will send the article to anyone who is interested in learning more about this mystical brand of literature. I particularly liked your reference to the genre "offer[ing] a vision of humanity as we dream it could be." Also loved your poetic description of the "metaphysical gem" that nestles between words.
Don't know how I could have missed it (being a member of the VFA and all!)
Kind regards,
Sonya
