I always liked and admired this actress, and I enjoyed reading about her life. The childhood portion was not fun to read, but I admired her sister. I loved her husband. I was most interested in hearing what she had to say about her work in The Help. Despite the criticisms directed at it, the movie had some extraordinary roles for many actresses. She loved making the movie, and I loved watching it. I enjoyed reading about her experiences. My other favorite parts were about Fences, the show How to get away with murder, and Meryl Streep. I loved her insights at the end about how the internal work she had to do to find herself, was crucial to her acting. The connection to her childhood, plus Denzel Washington’s direction, enabled her have a breakthrough in a role that she had performed many times on Broadway.
