Will I miss out on something that I absolutely must read from cover to cover? I’m so tempted to just read the spark notes for his book - thoughts? I dislike his character so much it’s been making the tandem read so difficult. I almost just straight up skipped his book but I heard it’s still vital to the story. Help a girl out 🙋🏻♀️

I would tandem read them!!! that way you are breaking up Chaol. There is stuff you will miss, and Yeren is a wonderful character that you get to know all about.
Tower of Dawn was not my favorite, but it was definitely a beautiful read. The setting of this book was very warm and picturesque. It also gives other characters like Nesryn and the people of Antica an interesting story to follow. I'd still give it a read!
I don’t recommend skipping it, there’s a lot of important information and character building for key new characters.I would tandem read, it makes the story more emotional.
I think if I had read them one at a time it would be harder to get through, but I ended up loving tower of dawn!
I was slowly making my way reading it and I started to hate it but then I pushed through and read it in one night and I totally recommend reading it. I think it was really good and I am so glad I read it. It is slow at first but it was so good in the long run! And it was one of my fav in the whole series!!
Tandem read will make you enjoy Chaols story!! i think there are important details and shock moments in ToD that you cant miss.
I am currently stuck on ToD myself, but I plan on getting back to it soon as I know there are important details that impact the story. But first I am finishing The Assassins Blade, which I decided to read slightly out of order haha.
I wanted to so badly but I ended up LOVING this book, and it truly helped me relearn to love Choals character after gaining a distaste for him. And of course we are introduced to new characters who I personally love love love!! Its a good read 100%
Before I read TOD I hated Chaol. Like really hated him, lol. Afterwards, I liked him. ALOT.. Read the book. fYI - I started the tandem read and gave up half way through and continued with TOD until the end. The constant flipping annoying me. Just read the book I the order it was written. It is fine that way.
Was suuuuper tempted. I think I could’ve survived with a synopsis of the book for sure, but I didn’t haaaate reading it once in it. Just hated starting out. 🙃
I tandem read Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn. I highly recommend doing this - it made the Chaol stuff a more interesting read in my opinion as I didn’t like him for a large chunk of the series. He gets better towards the end though! There a lots of guides out there on tandem read for the two books - I used this one. Happy reading! https://static1.squarespace.com/stati...
I personally loved Tower of Dawn!! However, I tandem read Tower of Dawn with Empire of Storms. I suggest the tandem read, it’s heavy though!!
I thought of doing that and wont lie it was the book I dreaded the most, but It turned out to be my favourite book in the series!
I read TOD before I read EOS and enjoyed it! I just recommend skipping the last chapter until you finish EOS then going back to read it. EOS was faster pace, in my opinion, and the ending perfectly segues into the plot for KoA.
I’m currently trying out the tandem read and girl i am struggling!! but i heard it gets better so im holding out hope!
I read it the first time through the series, but my second time through I completely skipped it. For first-time readers I definitely recommend reading it somehow, whether that's in a tandem read or in the order that the books were written in. It adds depth to Empire of Storms that would otherwise be missing and you miss some of the magic from the plot twists and such.
