Sarah Datti | 20 comments Hi all,

Very new librarian, here since yesterday only. Are there any rules or guidelines on how to approach looking for requests I can help with? So far I've closed my own pending requests for new editions to be added, and also done an older one for a French language book as I'm fluent.

Thanks

Welcome Sarah!

Your French skills will be very useful.

The next thing I would do is to check your stats page.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/stat... I've linked to mine but it should show as yours.
Good way to find any missing first published dates.

Next, page counts are like everything else here - very behind! & they are usually the easiest edits. I now only go back to page 9 - which is still 12 days ago. Check the stickied post in that folder for the information librarians are required to ask for. & you are under no obligation to answer a request that shouldn't be in this folder. Just do the ones you feel confident answering.

The edits I would attempt last are Awards, Series, & adding a photo to a non GR author. (unless you are absolutely sure you know what public domain is) I find Listopias difficult but that might just be me.

Good luck!

Tami (tamicarvallo) | 6987 comments Hello, there are no official guidelines that I know of. Since we are all volunteers, we can choose what we want to work on. I would advise starting by handling requests you are familiar with or certain about. Also, keep browsing the group; with time, you'll learn new things just by observing how others handle requests. If you are handling a request and are unsure how to proceed, you can ask in the Questions folder.

It is requested that a librarian handling a request write "Done" when they have completed it or provide some form of acknowledgment that they have handled the request. This helps save us all time. You can find more information in this pinned post: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
