Description:Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.

I don't know if you two realize this, but we're kind of reading these books out of order. The main series is about Bosch, and these books are a spinoff. So it feels to me like we've missed some stuff sometimes between books, though I don't know how much Mickey is actually in the other series?

Mickey for the People. Has a nice ring to it?

This case is a hard one. Anytime it involves a child/children, I'm for the maximum sentence. I can't imagine having my child taken then murdered. That would be a nightmare. I don't trust the DA. There is something fishy with this case. I do like that Mickey, his ex-wife and Bosch are working together.

I'm the same way. It seems like most of the other books are on audiobook.

Crap. I keep buying hardbacks but can't set still anymore. Lol. Like why do I even buy the book other than the obsession of it?

Crimes against children deserve the highest punishment. Did he do it? Ugh. I can't tell yet.

I'm having a hard time with this one. Every time they talk about what happened to the little girl hits me hard. I have 2 daughters and a granddaughter, I can't imagine this happening to one of them. I don't like Jason Jessup or trust him. What is he doing with the candles and going to those parks at night? I would have gone crazy knowing that Jessup had my home address and was camped out there. I understand that the Defense attorney is doing his job, I can't stand him.

This one is hard. Because you want the person responsible held accountable. But with this past evidence I don't know who did it. I wanted to be Jessup cuz that would mean that the right person has spent 24 years or so behind bars. But then I'm listening to Bosch Reed past evidence from people that I am assuming are dead because they can't testify again. And I'm hearing so many gaps in the testimony and it's making me wonder.

I like that Bosch and Mickey are finally working together. They would make a good team.

It was crazy. I felt so bad for the surviving sister. Not only did she blame herself for her sister's death but she also had the sexual abuse at the hands of her stepdad.

What gets me is that we still don't know what really happened. Was the stepfather actually involved mad somehow working with Jessup? Ugh
