I just finished this one and its amazing!
This was good. I liked all the historical elements and the battles, but I felt the protagonist lacked a little more depth. He wasn't completely two-dimensional (sometimes his attitude and opinions had me laughing), but I felt he was lacking conviction for a lot of the book just so that he could remain present in the action of the opposing sides. That said, there was a lot of good stuff here too! I'll have to check on the rest of the series at some point.
