"Esoteric"

Did anyone count how many times Brown used the word "esoteric" in Lost Symbol? I felt like it started showing up about every other page.

That's something that is easy for authors to fall into. When I do the first proof-read of my books, I have to watch out for that one. In my first book I succeeded in using the word "stocky" five times in four pages. Obviously I found those and replaced three of them, but it's something I have been very aware of since.

I would have thought that Dan Brown's editors would have picked up on any problems like that?
