Ludwig Aczel (ludwig_aczel) | 3 comments Hello everyone,

Apologies if this issue was already raised.

The separate tool does not work anymore. It does not for me at least, and from what I have read in some comments it does not work for a few other librarians.

The page that makes you select what editions to 'separate' and what to 'keep' appears. However, when I finalise the choice clicking the button seems not to have any effect.

Can someone look into it? Is it just me?

Thank you

Hi Ludwig

The tool worked for me a couple of days ago.

We can't 'look into it' for you as, like you we are all volunteers.

Please contact Support (Staff) The link is in this thread.

Ludwig Aczel (ludwig_aczel) | 3 comments Thank you Carol!

(I am aware other librarians cannot solve the issue, I was hoping some staff/superlibrarians would read this. It's my first time having a bug issue, I wanted to understand if it is just me or a generalised problem already flagged.)

There is very little staff presence in this group now (but the Moderator is looking at making a folder for librarians - it may be perfect for issues like this!) & Supers are also volunteers.

Good luck with this!

Arenda | 26448 comments Do you have an example where the separate tool is not working?

I know that for very popular books, think classics, the separate tool doesn't work most of the times, but those are exceptions.

Tami (tamicarvallo) | 6987 comments The tool has been working for me. Keep in mind that some separations and combinations can only be performed by superlibrarians; it might be one of those cases. As Arenda mentioned, providing an example would be useful.

Here is Rivka's comment for reference. I understand that some users may not be aware because it's not that common: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Ludwig Aczel (ludwig_aczel) | 3 comments Thanks for your answers. My case was for this book:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

This is a collection of short stories, and the brand new English edition by Drawn&Quarterly has been unified to previously existing collections by the same name in other languages which have less pages (they collect less stories).

Arenda | 26448 comments When you go to the separate tool: https://www.goodreads.com/book/separa...

The edition linked at the top is the same edition as the first edition with the keep/separate option. When you hover over these, you'll see the GR-id in the URL is 40719023 for both of them.
I don't know why GR displays it this way, but it means you have to separate all other editions from this default edition.
