Becci | 4 comments I read a lot but nothing I pick is hitting in the way I want it to at the moment.

I'm looking for recs for your roman empire book.. a series that you were consumed by or a world that you wish you could fall in and get lost within for the first time all over again. No spoilers if you can avoid them please!

I'm a fantasy, romantasy, dark romance and sci-fi girlie predominently but I'd be good to broaden my horizons for the right book.

Also, I'm active on Goodreads and always looking for new book friends so feel free to add me :)

message 4: by Dan (new)

Dan Danson | 2 comments It's a hard choice between A man called Ove, which was the only book to make me cry, and La Tiganci by Mircea Eliade, which felt like a dream where every character was a ghost.

I did enjoy the Shadow & Bone and Six of Crows books. I never continued on to read the King of Scars duology, am I missing out?

message 23: by Dee (new)

Dee Turner | 17 comments Louise Penny's 18-book series about Inspector Gamache, his team, and his family, in the unmapped little village of Three Pines, is a wonder. These characters have history! All are beautifully crafted and soon become real for the reader. I think the 18th must be the finale, although I hope it's not.

For those who'd like to step into Gamache's world, the first book is titled Still Life.

Gregory Ryman (gregoryryman) The Talisman by Stephen King & Peter Straub. I was reading it on a trip to South Carolina with my wife. On the drive back, I asked my wife if she would read it while we drove (I was enjoying it that much). She did, but stopped not too long afterward because she wanted to read it for herself.
