Rita (schizovampire) | 34 comments Hello!
I'm currently reading this book and I only realised that the number of the pages is incorrect when I marked my progress. I'm currently on page 385 and there's still some pages left but my progress here says it's 100% read because this edition of the book is 384 pages long. Which is not true, since the Hungarian edition is 415 pages long.

Hi Ryta

Most folders in this group have a stickied post that gives the info that volunteer librarians need to complete a request.

Here is the one for this folder.

This could be why your request has been skipped over.

Very hard decision, there's only one Hungarian paperback edition as far as I know, but the ISBN is 9789634992585.

Tal (taliesien) Here is the publisher page for the Hungarian edition with that ISBN -> https://maximkiado.hu/termekek/a-feke...

They list 416, Worldcat has no entry.

Thanks Tal.

Ryta, can you tell me what (if anything) is on page 416 of your copy? Some things we count & some things we don't.

Nothing. That's why I wrote 415. Ofc the publishers wrote 416, they won't put uneven numbers as page numbers here.
You'll have to believe me because I don't know where did I put the book since I've read it. I already read 4 more books since then. So the only evidence right now is my memory which ain't the best.

I have been doing page counts for quite some time in this group & people write all sorts of things. This is why I check.

Not unique to Hungary, the publishers' page counts are quite often estimates, especially when then can be divided evenly by 4.

I'll bear in mind you don't like being questioned.

Page count of 415 added please allow at least 20 minutes for the changes to display (much) longer if you are using the app.

To help volunteer librarians could you add [done] or similar to the title of the thread.

Not that I don't like being questioned, more like I don't like questions when I already wrote down the information. It seemed unnecessary for me. It seemed like I lied or something. I asked to change it because it was not correct. I wanted it to be correct. I'd do it myself like I can do it on our Hungarian book reading site but I can't.

We always have to doublecheck if other sources show different page counts. Also, since Goodreads' rules regarding page counts are very idiosyncratic, not everybody knows what should be counted and what shouldn't.
