Claudio Daniel | 32 comments if you only counting books, I guess no, but if you're counting every literary work, sure why not?

yeah, i do! manga, in my opinion, is still a book to read, yk? and there's quite a few words in a manga, (depending on the series) hope that helps :)

jayla (semi-inactive) yeah! why wouldn’t it? it’s still reading

Maria | 6 comments I do. I've noted what I read by Junji Ito as well as James O'Barr's "The Crow." (which is more of a graphic novel) but I've counted them. Happy reading. :)

Rachael | 2 comments I read a lot of manga (physical and digital) too but I don't count it towards my goal. The reason is because I used to read a lot of manga, but I want to focus more on books, so it's a personal preference of mine to just only count books. I do however add manga to my read shelf on GR.

However, I do think manga can totally be counted towards your goal. It's completely up to you, and because you read physical copies, you can totally add that volume towards your reading goal. :)

Henna_UwU | 99 comments I think it can count if you want it to. There are certainly manga that have a lot of thematic value to them, such as Junji Ito's Uzumaki and Haruko Ichikawa's Land of the Lustrous series. :D

Steve | 23 comments yup. A book has lots of words to describe what is happening. The manga has images instead. The speaking text is still there as in books. It can take just as long to study an image to extract the unwritten story/words as it can to read a few paragraphs.
