Should you read this book to a preschooler?

Please be kind. I am asking this because my ELA teacher told me to read my book to a kid on the bus when I said that I had trouble read sitting next to a preschooler.

Your teacher told you to read "Fried Green Tomatoes..." to a kid on the bus? Not sure if I'm misunderstanding, but that seems really odd to me, if this was just a random kid you don't personally know...

I'm sure there are some who would disagree with me, but I feel like most of the narrative would go over a preschooler's head. I don't mean to say it's 'inappropriate' per se - that's up to parents to decided; rather that kids that young would likely not understand, or be interested, in the book.
