Rosemary joins the misfit crew of the Wayfarer space ship, a tunneler of small wormholes in outerspace as a clerk. From the beginning we know she's got a backstory, there is some mystery, and she appears to be on the run under a new identity. But that's not necessarily the main plot! This is an out and out adventure story as the Wayfarer and its polyglot crew take on a big tunneling project connection a small planet filled with angry clans to the alliance of planets in the galaxy. They encounter different adventures, and there is a climactic scene at the small, angry planet, but make no mistake, this is about that crew of misfits and getting to know them.

This is defintely more a book about bonds and family hung on an adventure plot, and I just adore every single individual character we meet. Not sure I can even pick out a favorite. There is growth in each as well. What I didn't like about the book were the info dumps, even though the author made an effort to hide them in plain sight as scholarly articles being read by Rosemary or communications of one sort or another. But that's something I always struggle with in SciFi especially, and not everyone feels the same. While I had a few issues with it, I really did enjoy it and will be following the crew on its further adventures.
