Moony Luve (moonyluve) | 1 comments I love the 200-300 page range.

More than that and I have to prepare myself for it

message 102: by Maddy (new)

Maddy (maddzzy) | 62 comments Not really but I’ve never read above 1000 pages

message 103: by Tanja (new)

Tanja | 315 comments Not at all. It bothers me more when the book is boring

message 104: by Kai's (new)

Kai's Darling | 660 comments NOPE!! THE LONGER THE BETTER FOR ME. I READ A BOOK NEARLY 1000 PAGES LONG (KINGDOM OF ASH. LAST BOOK IN THE THRONE OF GLASS SERIES)

message 105: by Vítor (new)

Vítor Monteiro | 70 comments At most the length acts as a warning of how much time and dedication it can take, but it is none of my business how long a(n author's) book wishes (it) to be.

message 106: by ♤Lizzy♤ (new)

♤Lizzy♤ (Inactive) | 200 comments Sometimes if it's the last 50 pages yes. Other than that, more for me

message 107: by Anita (new)

Anita Hickman (anitahickman8) | 35 comments that depends on how well written. if it's a novella and it's poorly written yes it bothers me I have run across 2 I had to DNF. people trying to cram stuff into a small book isn't going to work .

message 108: by becs (new)

becs | 178 comments honestly yes sometimes but if a book is enjoyable enough it is easy to forget how long it is

message 109: by Gyan (new)

Gyan K If I love the book, especially if it has slice of life, then the longer the better.

message 110: by Bella (new)

Bella | 11 comments Larger books do intimidate me

message 111: by Eli (new)

Eli | 71 comments Larger books do unmotivate me, they don’t intimidate me. I always keep track of how far of a book im in, and if it shows hardly any progress and the bookmark is a quarter in while im at page 200.. yeah, not fun.

message 112: by Callista (new)

Callista | 17 comments I think it just depends. Usually I have to be really into a book if it's more than 500 pages. I've read books that long and longer, but I'm always skeptical because most of the times (not all) when a book is more than 500 pages I find myself saying "there was like 100 pages that could have been cut out and it wouldn't have changed the story."

message 113: by Maria Reads (new)

Maria Reads (mariuskyw) | 19 comments Not at all, if the plot is plotting till the end, I'll read +1000 pages

message 114: by Annie (new)

Annie | 7 comments Length doesn't matter as long as it's intriguing it the very end .

message 115: by Julie (new)

Julie Ounanian (julzounanian) | 44 comments The length of of a book doesn’t really matter as long as it keeps me interested. A while back I finished the Barbra Streisand book which was 1000 pages. Too much detail.

message 116: by ~Emmy~ (new)

~Emmy~ REYN | 22 comments Yes. ADHD Focusing Anxiety. Even if I cannot WAIT to read a book.. If it says 500 Pages I FREAK. 300-350 is the perfect number

message 117: by Gregory (new)

Gregory Van Den Berg | 8 comments Yes. I enjoy books which are concise. In my opinion, the length of books are to justify the outrageous prices for books today. Even paperbacks are very expensive. Steaming is the same way. The producers drag these stories out ad nauseum. I miss the 90 minute movie and the 250 page book. The great American novelist were concise in their writing. More is less and less is more.

message 118: by James (new)

James McRay | 3 comments Depends on how tight the plot. Or rather, does the book need to be that length to convey the full story, or is it long for the sake of being long? I loved Fourth Wing, but I felt that it needed better editing. Scenes could have easily been cut and not affect the plot.

⋆⭒˚。⋆Kritika⚘.˚。⋆ | 40 comments physical book: yes
on kindle : no

message 120: by Cece (new)

Cece | 17 comments I think the length of chapters bother me more than the book

message 121: by Gypsy (new)

Gypsy (ignited_red_queen) | 25 comments Only if it's 400 plus pages of nothing, lol.

message 122: by Denyse (new)

Denyse Springs (denise_springs) | 7 comments really just depends on the plot and the righting style. the longest book I read was around 900 pages

message 123: by Hriti (new)

Hriti (grratteful) | 133 comments if the plot is weak

message 124: by Kanomi Okina (new)

Kanomi Okina ||Emily the Seraphim|| (goodreadscomkanomi_okina) | 100 comments I agree with hriti

message 125: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (nikkerdoo) | 4 comments Not so far... As long as the story keeps me entertained!

message 126: by Nat_G (new)

Nat_G | 72 comments It really comes down to the plot and writing style, sometimes, in longer books I find there are too many scenes that are completely irrelevant to the plot and the book would've been fine without them

message 127: by Micaylah (new)

Micaylah | 52 comments For me, it depends on the book. If the writing is bad or confusing, the characters are really annoying, or the story is boring or repetitive, then yes. I've read a 600 page book that I wanted more of, but I also read a 500 page book that I just wanted to be finished with already.

Aditi ~ readwaditi (readwaditi) | 66 comments Yes v much!!! Big books are daunting

message 129: by Estefania (new)

Estefania | 9 comments No, it depends on the book, if I like the book a lot I don't mind if it is very long but if I don't like the book then it becomes heavy and it is very tiring and annoying to read it.

message 130: by Unboxing (new)

Unboxing Perspectives (unboxingperspectives) | 12 comments Not really, but it definitely impacts my decision on when to read it.

message 131: by ❁ Ashton ❀ (new)

❁ Ashton ❀ (readbyash) | 52 comments It depends on a few things. 1) how busy my month is to be able to commit to the story so i dont lose focus 2) it also depends on the plot. Some books have no business being that long it ends up ruining the whole book as its repetitive and dragged out but if its a strong plot, likeable characters where they have good growth then yes!

message 132: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 116 comments If it’s a good book no, but if it’s a bad book yes

message 133: by Ms.Sophia (new)

Ms.Sophia Firewall | 49 comments only when the plot is weak with no development in sight.

message 134: by Abby (new)

Abby E. | 69 comments yes if it's starting to bore me

message 135: by Panda (new)

Panda | 30 comments The quality of the book is of the utmost importance.

It is just as irritating to me if a book is lacking due to it being too short, where it feels more like an outline than a finished story, as it is if the author is repetitive and has useless filler.

A book takes as many words as it takes to be awesome.

message 136: by Samdisha (new)

Samdisha | 68 comments yes ,tops 400 pages

message 137: by C.J. (new)

C.J. Aralore (cjaralore) | 13 comments With a few exceptions, most books take me a while to really get into, often the halfway mark or later. Then, by the end, I'm heavily invested. This is why I like series. It's also why most books feel short to me and why I prefer drawn out endings.

One of the hardest things for me about reading is letting go of characters I've invested so much emotional energy into.

message 138: by Em (new)

Em | 78 comments Sometimes I think a book can be too long and it feels like the plotline is stretched too thin to be interesting.

I felt like this with 'The Secret History' because the first half is just the MC complaining about rich people and noticing his 'friends' acting weird, a lot of it could have been removed to make the almost 600 page but much shorter and less boring.

However, I think it can also go the other way with things being too short and the plotline isn't fleshed out enough because of how much it was cut and shortened.

message 139: by Sarah Lehman (new)

Sarah Lehman (sdelgado8404) | 116 comments Not if the length is because of a good plot. If it's long because the author is overly describing things, like how amazing a sandwich is, then I have an issue with that

message 140: by Henry (new)

Henry Jhon | 4 comments Shanna wrote: "I’m currently reading a book that is 900 pages long. Every time I pick it up to start reading I just have a blah feeling. It’s so long it puts me in a negative mood before I even start reading. Doe..."

Yes Same totally

message 141: by Tanja (new)

Tanja | 315 comments not at all. If I love the story it cannot be long enough. If I despise it, even 100 pages are torture

message 142: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 9 comments It’s not specifically the length that bothers me, but the fact that I will undeniably FORGET most of the events that have happened throughout the book if it’s more than like 800 pages. Like I WILL not remember anything.

message 143: by Kristina (new)

Kristina Kamaeva | 76 comments Yes. I believe that most long books would benefit from some editing. I read slowly and have no habit to skip parts, and if I'm bored I give up and don't finish the book.

message 144: by Andreya (new)

Andreya | 27 comments only if it takes its sweet time to get to the meat of the story. I am not a patient person

message 145: by Pluto (new)

Pluto | 45 comments I thing big books are very intimidating... it takes a lot for me to DNF a book, but generally if the book is not interesting by the first 100 pages I drop it...

I personally believe that some 400/500 page books could easily be 100 pages shorter and still be a good book.

message 146: by Jaylene Sweet (new)

Jaylene Sweet | 4 comments Usually yes

message 147: by Nowshin (new)

Nowshin | 57 comments yup it takes me some sort of mental strength to start a book too long as I feel like I got not enough time to read this long of a book now , what to say I think I got commitment issues as I am scared to commit to long books or series

message 148: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Johnson | 9 comments For me, the longer the book, the better. I'm okay with non-fiction short books if they're really inspiring. But I like the really long winded stories. If it's a non-fiction book, I like it to be nice and long-winded and everything to be full of suspense and you never know what's gonna happen until almost the end of the book. there are some aspects of long books that I don't like, like spending the first five chapters just to find out who one of the characters are. But other than that, long stories are great.
