Donna Lundy | 88 comments I have another question for the group. In the case of a very old classic title whose author is "unknown" but there are several different editions translated by different people. . . Should all those different translations be combined with the editions in the original language (as they are now) or should each translator be separated, since it is possible that the text of each translation could be different? I think I know the answer, but it's always good to get input from others with more experience!
Thanks!
~Donna

Liralen | 8212 comments I don't see why they'd be treated any differently from other translated editions (i.e., combined with the originals). Different translations will naturally differ, but we wouldn't separate (e.g.) a 2005 translation of an Elena Ferrante book into English from a 2015 translation into English by a different translator/publisher.
