Christopher Green (christopher_green) | 2 comments Feliks, thank you for sharing this. I haven't seen the movie but would like to. Looks like it's available second-hand on Amazon, and also on prime video (US).

Feliks (dzerzhinsky) | 33 comments Glad to! I'm thinkin' that it's gotta be one strange flick. As I recall from Greene's difficult book, the 'hero' is an aged, wizened, broken-down, 'whiskey priest' who is barely hanging on to his faith.

Henry Fonda --young, idealistic Henry Fonda at the time --is way down low at the end of a list of actors I'd imagine for the role.

Who else instead? Maybe someone like J. Carroll Naish, or Howard Da Silva... or even someone from John Ford's regular stable of actors.

Even Franklin J. Pangborne or Donald Crisp, rather than handsome, earnest young Fonda.

Oh well. Hope you contribute your opinion if you do purchase the movie...

Christopher Green (christopher_green) | 2 comments I sure will. As you wrote, it will be interesting to see how Henry Fonda interpreted the role of the whisky priest.
