Shadow Love goes after Lucas in his home while Jennifer and his daughter are there. They came close to dying and Lucas mortally wounds Shadow Love, refusing to call for aid despite Jennifer’s pleas for him to do so. She also knows he’s slept with Lily. Is this the end of their relationship? As this is the second time that Lucas allows a murderer to die (remember maddog?), what does this say about him?

Jennifer and Lucas are over. She can't want the kind of life Lucas can give her at this point. She will never trust him. She also sees that Lucas will go to any length to "get his man." As a reporter, she could ruin him. At this point, I'm not sure Lucas should be on the police force. He can't rein in his anger any more than Shadow Love.

Lucas compromised himself so much in this book that I wondered how there could be more books in a series about him. I guess we'll see.
