BUT, tbf, i think i've read worse.

but i'd still like to have a second opinion, if possible. i just need to know what i should read next after im done reading The Spanish Love Deception.

on my kindle so far, ive got;

King of Wrath
Things We Never Got Over
The Inheritance Games
Divine Rivals

so, if you dont think i should read Hunting Adeline, which one out of those 4 should i read?

Yasmine | 6 comments Haunting Adeline is before Hunting Adeline and I think it's best to read Satan's Affair before the duet. it sets the tone and what to expect from the duet later on plus I loved the plot twists. you need to check the TWs though for all these books, cause they're extremely dark especially Hunting Adeline. and yes all these 3 books are so spicy

viviana ʚ♡ɞ (bookedwithvi) | 72 comments hunting adeline i loved, especially if you've read haunting adeline and liked it. it also helps reading it if you decide to read where's molly which is a "A spinoff of the Cat & Mouse". king of wrath and things we never got over are really good too! obviously they're completely different than HA lol but i loved the entire series of both of those! i like to try and balance out my dark romance and contemporary romance reads haha.

andie | 136 comments nooooooo one should read haunting adeline ever again lmao, it's gross and bad and not sexy and the author is a nut job qanon crazy bitch who thinks politicians in real life operate an underground dungeon where they drink the blood of babies and then she writes that craziness into her books with obnoxious author's notes about how she's "exposing" real life corruption with her stories. i fucking hate that author and her books are genuinely horribly written and if I could delete them from the face of the earth I would and I have never felt that way about any other author before. I'm all for people having different tastes, dark romance is totally fine with me, I don't care about author's politics and I fully believe in freedom of speech, but seeing HD Carlton's name makes me understand why people burn books. I have no idea how she got so popular, she should be living in awkward self-published obscurity like the rest of the crazy people who write ridiculous conspiracy theories but someone on tiktok thought being r*ped with a gun was kinda hot for some reason and got this book to go viral and I'm sick of it!!! thanks for coming to my ted talk. read king of wrath or divine rivals, or hell, go enjoy some good dark romance if you want something spicy and unhinged!!! if you must read HD Carlton's books, at least pirate them for my sake lmao.

Miranda Hanley | 119 comments So far, I'm really enjoying Haunting Adeline! I plan to read this one before Hunting Adaline, but I hear both are great if you're into really dark romance! Devine Rivals is also on my TBR list.

Kennyalis Rodriguez | 7 comments i read haunting adeline and i thought it was really good!! it is definitely not for everyone so i would read the warnings but the writing is amazing and the imagery is so detailed and well put together.

Alexandria ˙⋆✮ | 210 comments haunting Adeline is really good, it has a good plot. it has a sequel, hunting adeline and there is also a spin off, "where is molly?". give it a try!

you absolutely should be worried about me when it comes to this author lmao. meanwhile I will keep being worried about everyone somehow enjoying and recommending qanon porn! literally the plot of this book is that the mmc is hunting down politicians operating a secret underground ring where they get together in hooded robes and drain the blood of infants and drink it. and the author explicitly states that she believes this is reality and she's exposing it in her work. this shit is crazy!!!

Cadence (cadencegardner) | 3 comments please be sure to read all the trigger warnings for the H.D. Carlton books. if you're not faint of heart and not squeamish, they're an interesting read. Haunting does give spoilers to Satan's Affair, but you don't have to read it first, although, tbh I liked Satan's Affair the most. Hunting Adeline should definitely be read after Haunting, and gets way darker than Haunting. I will admit the writing isn't the best, but if you're reading H.D. Carlton, it's not because your'e looking for 'fine literature' haha

I do think Zade is an emotionally immature shmuck and I'll leave him for the other girlies, but Sibby is a damn treasure.

if you want, you can read Satan's Affair first, but you don't necessarily have to. It's like a prequel, Adeline's story is not discussed in this book.
King of Wrath is a different thing, I don't think it can be classified as dark romance like Haunting Adeline. It's also a good book, but the plot in Haunting and Hunting Adeline is undefitable.

Athena | 14 comments i’ve heard a ton of bad things about Haunting Adeline, but i haven’t personally read it tho. I see that no one recommended The Inheritance Games yet but I will, deff one of my fav book series 🫶🏻

message 21: by Lyla (new)

Lyla | 1 comments Haunting Adeline scares me but i don’t wanna yuck on anyone’s yum! Read what you’ll enjoy! I personally enjoyed the inheritance games but I like mysteries with cute little romances 🤷‍♀️

Natasha Lambert | 3 comments all time favourite book, YES.

message 23: by angeline (new)

angeline (ramblingdaydreams) you can read it if you're okay with reading about a romanticized rapist that rapes the main character twice. do with that information what you will.

well, I've read that, and im now onto the Hawthorne legacy! you were the one comment I actually decided to listen to

message 26: by Ali ⸆⸉ ོ (new)

Ali ⸆⸉ ོ I think you should read it if your not triggered easily. I skipped most spicy scenes because they were not consensual but the story was cool, very graphic and disturbing, but cool. Read with caution.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

nope just don't I regretted it so much and I am almost done with the last on and...just don't read it while your insanity is still intact.

message 28: by Lia (new)

Lia | 51 comments I'll have to agree with what Angeline said. I started the book and left it when he abused the FMC for the first time, and is not like I'm triggered by it or something but I just can't find that shit attractive and (at the risk of sounding judgemental) I don't understand what's going on in the heads of the women that did. But that's my opinion, give it a try if you want girl just have that in mind!
