jayla (semi-inactive) I’ll start with the cruel prince. The first book was slow and mid. I think the second book makes up for it but the first book is not as great as everyone says it is. It’s very overhyped.

♥️ alli ♥️ | 40 comments archer ‘ s voice is way overhyped for what goes in the book . Yes , the start is promising but then it’s just a downhill slide . Whenever there was conflict it was forgiven within 5 pages . 🤷‍♀️

message 6: by Casey (new)

Casey There's a few, but I'll say The Midnight Library and Ask for Andrea. I wished I had stopped reading The Midnight Library, but I kept on reading, and I struggled to finish it. Ask for Andrea is deemed a thriller on Goodreads, but it's really not. It has a supernatural theme. It's kinda the same genre as The Lovely Bones. It's very slow...I stopped reading about halfway through.

Kristina Schreiber | 4 comments The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. It was pretty good, but I’ve read 5 V.E. Schwab books and out of all of them, I’d rank it at the bottom. Not sure why this title gets so much love on booktok compared to her others.

Malena Varanini (httpswwwinstagramcommalevaranini) | 15 comments For me it was Book lovers, i found it super boring. The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo also, it didnt live up to the expectations

Kaya (non-hiatus) (messymindmesseduplife) | 4 comments I most probably dnf-ed spanish love deception! Also Book lovers- I just couldn’t get into it after reading lets say 30%-+

♥️ alli ♥️ | 40 comments Forgot to mention but also LengendBorn , dnf ‘ f about 25% through . Fmc made me scream and punch the wall everytime she made a remark . 😭 , she was ignorantttt

Leice ✨ Book Lovers 👎🏾 Emily Henry.
I really wanted to enjoy their writing but it just didn’t grab me and felt a chore to finish it.

message 24: by Dee (new)

Dee Turner | 17 comments Piranesi by Susanna Clark. I LOVED Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, but Piranesi was just awful. Here it is, in a nutshell: a well-educated but mind-broken guy wanders in complete isolation for years in an apparently inescapable, sea-soaked grotto--but he was just a victim of kidnap, and he's rescued. References to Narnia abound. WTF

Henna_UwU | 99 comments I really didn't like Gallant by VE Schwab. It felt like a gimmick book with all the illustrations, and all of the actual important aspects (characters and plot especially) felt unfinished and uninteresting. It never really felt magical or scary, either. Really disappointing.

message 43: by Eilidh (new)

Eilidh (eilidh_craw) I hated ugly love by Colleen Hoover. I’ve never been so angry over a book in my entire life. Even if I hate a book, I can see why certain people might enjoy it but I couldn’t even see that with ugly love. I’ve never been so mad 😂😂

message 44: by Tanya (new)

Tanya Costello | 6 comments I sometimes read a ‘very popular’ book, and then wonder afterwards what all the hype was about? American Dirt, Verity, The Midnight Library, and Lessons in Chemistry to name a few.

message 45: by Ivy (new)

Ivy Veronica | 5 comments If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin. I’ve seen it start to pop off on booktok and I have to just groan every time I see it in a book store. I get why people may enjoy the book but honestly I just can’t see why it’s as big as it is.

message 46: by Jo (new)

Jo Kerr | 76 comments My book club read Drive your plow over the bones of the dead, which has loads of good reviews and a Nobel prize but I thought it was definitely overhyped and quite boring in places.
I did manage to finish it but a few of my book club buddies struggled to read it.
