Yes, I know you were joking. We are very comfortable in our own skins and try not to take anything or anybody to seriously. We do have our fair share of red-necks but no more or less than anywhere else in good ol' Aus. That has always been a myth perpetrated in the southern states because they are jealous of our talent. HaHa.

Yeah, but that would have been because females weren't worth mentioning. They were only incubators for be getting more boy people.

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments OK, Well Mary is important to Christians because she, according to ths scriptures, gave birth to Jesus was a wise man who strove to improve the political standard of the time and to genuinely help people. But I believe he was human too, if, in fact, he was real which I can believe. It is the only explanation for the story having survived time. However, I think most of the stories within the Bible can be relegated to Myth which doesn't necessarily mean that it didn't happen.

However, I really can't believe that Mary was a virgin. Who has read or seen the film Rosemary's baby? Well I don't believe that can happen either. Where the Devil rapes someone and begets a demonic child, which is the opposite of what supposedly happened to Mary. I don't mean to denigrate anybody else's belief here. It's just MHO.

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments Oh, so full of questions you are. I love young people with questioning minds. Well, anybody with a questioning mind. It is like people who chose sides. The them and us mentality. I love it when people feel free enough to ask relevant questions.

I don't know enough about the Christian religion to answer you truthfully as I decided I didn't like the threatening messages Iwas getting when I was young. My understanding is that Jesus's mother Mary was a virgin when she fell pregnant. I think that makes Mary more than human. Then Jesus was looked upon as the son of God which is also more than human. That's my interpretation anyway.

message 113: by Catherine (last edited Apr 06, 2015 03:28AM) (new)

Catherine yes. Mary is imporant...but she's not mentioned in the Old Testament anywhere that I can remember...only in the New Testament....

she was human, as was Jesus....

but my question is how can the Old Testament people all live to such ripe old ages...(900years or more)...whilst the New Testament people only lived to normal ages...(35, 50, 80...etc)

and furthemore....how did nowhere in all these stories anyine menton dinosaurs?!?!!? it's because hey didn't exist! they were already extint!

Is it something along the lines of being able to reduce our molecules to such an extent that we can walk through walls? Or a simpler example would be that we can levitate? There is just so much we don't know. It is truly egotistical to believe or disbelieve anything.

Hey Laureen - absolutely no comment re the loin cloth size...This group has already gone downhill enough with this thread so far...Answering that question would be the last straw :)

Meanwhile, re Queensland I am aware of the myths the Southern states have of Queenslanders and that's why I played on that myth - to see if I can get a reaction. But it's not a myth I remotely subscribe to. And don't worry, there are just as many rednecks in NSW and VIC.

Oh no, the loin cloth image is much more fascinating! I guess I was born with my head in the gutter! Better than some place else - I really don 't want my head at the top of a flag pole for instance or on a stake on a castle wall.

Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments I'll leave you all to your loin cloth fantasies. Phew! It's getting hot in here!

Meanwhile, here's what Laurence Gardner had to say about the virgin birth:

"The Semitic word translated as 'virgin' is almah- which actually means no more than 'young woman'. The Hebrew word denoting a physical 'virgin' is bethula."

(From Bloodline of the Holy Grail: The Hidden Lineage of Jesus Revealed

And only two gospels make reference to the virgin birth anyway.

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments Maybe so. I'll try to do better. Regarding the loin cloth, I could probably knock up one for Barbie's Ken but I suspect it would not be large enough? Out-of-control Laureen is revealing that the only movie she'd be good for is an X-rated film!

It's terrible what we men have to put up with these days, right Harry? Being objectified like this is what we men have to endure everywhere we go...Women cannot see we also have brains...:)

Is there any way we can end this innuendo now and revert back to the actual topic of this thread?

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THOSE BLOODY DINOSAURS MILLIONS (or thousands or hundreds) OF YEARS AGO?

message 130: by Laureen (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments You can show us in the movie. Can't wait.

message 131: by Harry (new)

Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments Yeah, enduring objectification is terrible.

Anyway, back on to some sort of topic- I really liked Fay's answer of the Ark containing dino babys!

Although I still think it would've been one hell of a struggle to get two of every kind on board, seeing as the Ark was only 300 cubits long (137.16 m, 450 ft), 50 wide (22.86 m, 75 ft), and 30 high (13.716 m, 45 ft).

And I'd have thought Noah leaving the dinosaurs behind would've been the Christian answer to them dying out in the recent flood!

message 132: by Laureen (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments Harry, you are being so sensible. But Harry, there was no mention of dinosaurs in the Bible was there? Noah wouldn't even have considered them. And surely the parent dinos would have had to be consulted if they were to entrust their babies to Noah. Just a thought.

I find it good entertainment to see the lengths people will go to in order to make history fit their faith...

The more sensible option would be just to look at history and science (and religious texts) and say what is the most likely thing: Is it likely dinos were still living around or just before Christ given there are zero mentions of them? Or is it more likely taking the Bible literally does not add up against the overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

message 134: by Laureen (last edited Apr 06, 2015 06:01AM) (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 478 comments Yes, it is obvious James but just because we think that doesn't make it right. All we can do, each one of us, is listen to our inner sense of reason and hope that we are on the right track. What has become obvious to me is that no matter how diverse the opinion, each person believes in their own perception of reality.

1.) Before sin, humans would have lived forever. There was no death. Then, humans sinned, ate the forbidden fruit, and death came into the world. A humans' life span got shorter and shorter over the years. So you could say that "de-evolution" happened.

It was a forbidden fruit. God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat the forbidden fruit on The Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good and Evil. Their first sin was disobedience to God by eating the fruit, which caused sin and death to enter the world. The specific fruit it was is not mentioned.

Maybe the dinosaurs were killed by eating the forbidden apple, where they learned all knowledge, including the knowledge that sometime in the future they would be ridiculed by James Morcan and promptly committed suicide.

If they ate the fruit then they'd understand what evil was, they'd understand sin and they'd have more of a craving to do it.
