Faith (faymorrow) | 309 comments So I looked at some sources but this one explains it best and provides reference to the Scriptures.

It seems legit. to me, I mean, in regards to what the Bible says.

The 'paradise' seems similar to the concept of the Elysian Fields, an 'after-world' of the Greeks, which is in line with the concept of Hades. It is also in line with the area/time that the OT was written.

Also found this, which is nicely neutral, without being snotty toward one side of the faith, or the other (refreshing, really):

And now back to your regularly scheduled dino convo... (Sorry for the deviation, here, James...)

Just out of curiosity, did you ever see Eric the Viking?

Great example of the Old Gods (and, as a bonus, what happened to Atlantis).

I still don't understand WHY he had to. Who told him he had to? Why didn't he use his Command Voice and say "ENOUGH! Sit down, and shut up, and for the sake of my sanity, BEHAVE!"

Lol - Or something like that. Or is that what happened to the dinosaurs? They didn't behave, he wiped them out, was all "Oopsie...", made man, and realized it was all happening all over again....

Erma Talamante (eitalamante) | 55 comments Noticing that these flood stories involve alot of kicking, dogs, and a pissed off god who don't want anyone lighting a fire or cooking anything.

Besides the usual elements of the story, of course.

Thanks to whomever posted the link. I hadn't heard many of these before! (http://genesis.uag.mx/posgrado/revist...)

Erma Talamante (eitalamante) | 55 comments Could it possibly be that dinosaurs were EATEN? KFC, anyone?

Interesting side note, while digging in a midden heap at Ghost Ranch, NM, my greatest finds were a few broken stone cutting tools, and *lots* of bird bones, leading us all to nickname my grid 'KFC'.

:) Good times, good times.

Edit: Forgot to add the link that precluded this thought train...

ETs came from all over the universe to devour them

;) As you have probably already noticed in other threads, I am a bit over-opinionated! This is just fodder for my mind!

Considered, yes. Likely, no.

They would have deemed the dinosaurs unfit to stand trial, due to insufficient mental capacity.

Besides, it wouldn't have been 'compassionate' enough! ;p

James Morcan | 11380 comments Erma wrote: "Besides, it wouldn't have been 'compassionate' enough! ;p ..."

Yeah, I know EXACTLY what you mean...
There would've been dino rights campaigners saying we need to show love to the dinos even tho those beasts were psychopathic serial killing monsters!
Just sayin' (the truth)

My brain has become extinct by now...like the dinos...So I'm not sure what I could come up with...
Hopefully by post 10,000 in the year 2037, a new answer will be received...some Undergrounders will literally be underground by that point (aka dead!) others will be in rest homes, will the majority will remain in mental asylums around the world :)

I'm sorry, I don't think I understood your sarcasm?

message 1026: by Erma (new)

Erma Talamante (eitalamante) | 55 comments No sarcasm! At least, I don't think it is. More, tongue in cheek.

No, the answer to life, the universe, and everything in it can be found in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

(view spoiler)

I live with this knowledge, and it comforts me.

BBC did a really good mini-series version ages ago, and is much higher recommended than the Zooey Deschanel version. And it's narrated and explains it all!

Not everyone gets why a supposedly loving and merciful God would want to wipe out all of humanity with a flood either, so don't worry.

Time to find a new fairer version of God I say ;)

Erma Talamante (eitalamante) | 55 comments What if the dinosaurs were relocated after 'fertilizing' the ground here to another location by other life forms for terra-forming?

Only the ones that had died while they were here provide the limited bones and fossils that we find today. The rest were simply whisked away to fertilize another planet...

What is the meaning of life?

Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments James Morcan wrote: "As this thread seems to be providing answers on every and any topic, I just have a small additional question to infuse into the mix...Nothing major, not a biggie, just a little question I hope some..."

Is the meaning of life to realise that only humans attach meaning to things?

Could be, but how do we know the dinos weren't wondering what the meaning of life was?

Maybe the dinos actually worked out what the meaning of life was, and therefore promptly became extinct as there was nothing left for them to ponder upon. They died from boredom.

message 1036: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments Yeah, maybe once the meaning of life is discovered, you teleport out of this realm.

And on that note, has anyone in this discussion mentioned the idea that someone teleported the dinos to another planet??

message 1044: by Faith (new)

Faith (faymorrow) | 309 comments Yeah, I'm kind of thinking that maybe the dinosaurs actually did figure out the meaning of life and since the answer was so shocking and monumental they all just died of shock...

Isn't it ironic that Alanis Morissette's Ironic didn't know what irony was, don'tcha think?
