The reality is James, that not ALL dinos have gone extinct. Look at all the species that have been RE-discovered just in the last decade! I've seen some recent documentaries that look to me like they may have rediscovered Megaladon! & what about ancient pictographs showing humans & dinosaurs? I lean more towards the theory that poisonous gases & major ash fallout from volcanic eruptions may have been the culprit of mass deaths of most dinos, including the destruction of the plant life to sustain the herbivores, which were the food for carnovores.

Actually, Beth, I've never read much about dinos...This thread was more designed for some comedic relief, but I'm enjoying learning from members who have studied the dinos.
And I also do wonder if Jurassic Park could some day become a reality!

Thanks,
James

Beth (bcopanos) | 57 comments Scientists have already found some viable DNA of various prehistoric animals, so Jurassic Park COULD be a possibility. But genetics is a touchy subject since some people believe it comes too close to playing God. I did recently watch a documentary on Geneticists experimenting on reverse engineering chickens to see the growth of tails & teeth though. How's that for comedic relief? LOL

Janith Pathirage (pathirage) | 135 comments Well, scientists are working on a project to bring Woolly Mammoth back to life as we speak. By using a gene-editing technique known as CRISPR to insert mammoth genes to elephant cells . Jurassic Park 1 could become a reality in our lifetime (It'll start with small, less complicated animals of course). But I hope they won't escape and start wondering our streets, like the big Rex in the first movie :D.

If aliens could do it , Why can't we ??

Is this what was meant by the Second Coming?

But I do wonder if the Turin Shroud is legit. I have watched some documentaries on it but I'm still skeptical. Eh?

I used to think there were good claims for the Shroud, but it's since been proven it's not legit I'm afraid. Damn, no cloned Jesus yet then!

Well, actually, Janith, speaking of shit...if they do succeed in cloning dinos and creating a Jurassic Park scenario, there'd be a lot of shit around wouldn't there? I mean, those dinos would have been eating constantly...and so, they'd be excreting constantly, I'd imagine...

Sorry, but this is the best contribution I am capable of making to this discussion thread...Especially as I'm dino illiterate as someone pointed out...

Janith Pathirage (pathirage) | 135 comments Lol. I agree James. We'll run out of livestock. The best solution I see is cloning their prehistoric pray animals with them. But that would make things even more complicated. If a Rex breaks loose we can take him down with our fire power (after lot of casualties ). But if a Pliosaurus or a Mosasaur escapes to the sea ... O Shit !!

Hard to capture in the sea and what if they start breeding?

And for meat eaters (human ones I mean), you think they would enjoy a nice T-Rex double whopper burger with cheese? I mean, is there commercial potential here?

Hmmm... If they start breeding in the sea, fishermen will have to find new jobs. All the whales, sharks, dolphins and seals will disappear. In land, McDonald's will become RexDonald's. Humans will lose their jobs to dinos !. Raptors are known for their super efficient customer service, human employees won't stand a chance !.

Hate to burst your bubble guys, but I don't think there were enough humans to eat all the dinos. Unless...the aliens bio-engineered the dinos specifically to feed all the aliens in space?

Sorry James, didn't mean to hurt your feelings! LOL You'll eventually get edumacated about dinos!

message 833: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments Yes am starting to feel highly "edumacated" about dinos especially since you guys have proven how ancient humans ate dino meat as fast food due to ET burger joints.
All makes complete sense now.

message 834: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments According to your theory, Sayori, Did the ancient ETs develop a love of dino meat? Or were they killing dinos for other reasons?

Also, do you think there were any animal rights activists amongst the ETs trying to convince their fellow ETs not to slaughter all the dinos??

message 835: by Harry (new)

Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments To all those that have been saying we're overpopulated and don't have the space to sustain ourselves (in other threads), I bet that if they really could clone a T-Rex or two, they would most certainly find the space for them with complete ease.

message 836: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments That's another snyde/snide remark from a 1% elitist fat cat, Harry :)
But yes, you're absolutely right - we have space and food available on the planet for resurrecting the dinos and millions of other extinct species

message 837: by Janith (new)

Come on James, give us your honest opinion for the question we are all pondering over and messing with - What happened to the dinos!!???

A Few Good Men, eh? Proposal of new movie- A Few Good Dinos.

message 848: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments This is what happened to the dinos...
And I warn you it's deceptively simple.
Upon first reading, you may miss the supreme truth and logic due to how simple it is...And you may say "dayum, I waited 1,000 posts for that?!"
But ponder it for a while before prejudging me - and remember I'm just a messenger... :)

Also, I must reveal that this thread has come full circle and we are now gonna return to the Biblical era...

So the truth is the dinos were around at the time of Noah.

All the other animals got collected by Noah and placed in his ark even if they didn't want to be.

But of course, the dinos were smarter than all the other animals (due to their extremely massive brains - see, this post is very scientific!).

So they were able to outsmart Noah and evade getting caught. They remained free.

Noah couldn't even find a single dino egg...that's how clever the dinos were.

And so, can you guess how this story ends?

That's right, the dinos were all laughing at Noah and mocking him.

Feeling proud of themselves they outsmarted Noah (and God).

But then...
Oh nooooooo...
It started to rain.

A big wave came and flooded the land.
And then another...
And then another...
Each wave getting bigger than the last.

The oceans got higher and higher.

And the dinos last words were (in unison around the entire planet): "This looks like a mighty big flood, fellas! Maybe we shoulda listened to Noah after all!"

And that was the end of the dinos.
They all drowned.

THE END

message 849: by James, Group Founder (new)

James Morcan | 11380 comments sayori wrote: "but then what about the water dinos? they knew how to swim....."

Some of 'em survived, like Loch Ness, but mostly the ocean dinos all died as the flood changed everything for the worse...catastrophic plate movements under the oceans occurred during the Flood. And a few weeks after the Flood, the oceans actually sank by many miles almost becoming dry due to all the damage the earth's land and ocean floor's had sustained.

That's why they've found dino fossil's on the ocean floor as well as on land.

(I'm free-wheeling here folks, but it sounds semi-convincing!)

James, to tell you the truth, I kind of wanted a legit. theory (not that this theory isn't legitimate, just maybe not a grand as I thought it would be). Sighhhhhh.
