I read the book 2 or 3 years ago. Its starts with this girl in college who wants to make more money, so she takes a job as a babysitter for a child who has mental problems and has been kicked out of almost every school. The girl stays with her aunt since her father is in jail for killing her mother. Later on she has an argument with her friend which makes her leave in anger. After the fight she finds out her friend has gone missing and she can't remember what happened the previous night. The boy that she babysits tells her he wants to play a game and has hidden little clues all around the town. So then she starts to look for them. That's as far as I remember with this book.

I remember more of it now. Turns out the girl who is babysitting the boy is the cross-dresser. He dressed up like a girl to hide his identity. Also the boy he is babysitting is his step-brother. The boy he's babysitting is 10 or 11 years old. i Think the book was hardcover, and was set in America in current era. I don't remember the region or city.

I think that the cross-dressing boy's real name was Lance or Landon. The step-brother is trying to kill Lance or Landon for getting their father put in jail.
