Rebecca | 8 comments So I just finished the first Throne of Glass book and I could not for the life of me get into it. I feel like I forced myself to finish it so I could just get it out of the way and not because I was actually enjoying it.

Is the rest of the series better than the first book? I'm trying to decide whether I should bother to keep going with it!

Cassidy | 349 comments This was her first series as an author so the writing and storyline pick up significantly as it goes on! The characters you meet later in the series are soo good in my opinion. I hear a lot of people say they don’t find it picks up until Queen of Shadows which is deep into the series 😳. It really started to pick up for me at Heir of Fire, but I was also already enjoying the early books as well. Maybe give another book a try and see what you think!

Zoē Holt | 19 comments Dude, I am feeling the exact same way. I finished Throne of Glass and thought it was just 'meh.' I have Crown of Midnight and Assassin's Blade, but I am dreading getting back into it. Everyone says it's so good, but when does that start? Right now, I am not feeling it.

Tai Tai | 26 comments I have to agree with Cassidy!! It picked up for me at Heir of Fire, but I also did enjoy the first book!! It’s a great fantasy series, but definitely different than her ACOTAR series.

Cassidy | 349 comments Also if it’s slow and boring there’s no shame in dropping the series and finding something else you like more! Just because lots of people like it, may not be for you!

yanah ☆ I've been wanting to read this series for awhile, is there spice? (Not a fan, as long as it isn't very descriptive it should be fine)

Cassidy | 349 comments There’s lot of romance but very little spice. Essentially none (some talks about it and fade to black scenes). Books 5-7 have more spice, but still pretty minimal.

vinny .⊹ | 14 comments hey! I'm currently reading Empire of Storms. Assassins Blade and Throne of Glass are ROUGH starts, but they get better, Heir of Fire was my favorite. BUT I will be honest and say it gets confusing and uneven-paced near the last three books.

Rebecca | 8 comments Thanks so much Cassidy! Maybe I'll give Crown of Midnight a try and if I'm still not feeling it I'll know it just ain't for me!

Thanks Tai Tai! I remember when I read the first ACOTAR book I kind of felt the same way as I do with TOG, but about 60% into ACOTAR I got absolutely hooked and read the whole series in like 2 weeks!

Karsyn | 611 comments Without a shadow of a doubt, yes it definitely gets better as the series progresses! SJM herself was developing and improving as a writer, and just the plot itself develops so much with each book, getting better and better. Heir of Fire is when it really started to pick up for me, and then with Queen of Shadows it really took off. Totally worth getting through in my opinion! Hope you enjoy!

Rebecca | 8 comments Even if I end up not liking Crown of Midnight maybe I'll just soldier through to Heir of Fire!

yanah ☆ Thank you Cassidy!<3

Cassidy | 349 comments You’re welcome!! If you have it in you, I would def stick it out through Heir of Fire. If by then you don’t like where the story is going and feel connected to the characters you can stop there ◡̈

Rocio (rociomm) | 18 comments I just started this and I'm contemplating if it's worth it to even keep going with the book
