message 13: by Dee (new)

Dee Turner | 17 comments I used to write all over books, but I'm a Kindle reader now--I've had to get rid of hundreds of books that had become infested with earwigs over ages, and I appreciate my newly uncluttered space. Of course, I've saved the classics and others I might want to reread after the electric grid fails, so I still have quite a number of filled bookcases.

So now I highlight and save lots of passages (and hope Amazon can send me all of them), and I try to record my impressions here in Goodreads as reviews. I write reviews for schools, too, which means I have to read more than I'm used to, so my Goodreads reviews are backing up--but I'm determined to get to all of them. Soon!

message 33: by luckykarmatx (new)

luckykarmatx No, I don't want to mark up my books because if it is a book I might turn around and sell, I want the next person to have the experience of seeing the book as I first saw it. If it is a kindle version, I will highlight freely, but not a physical book. I have a book journal for that.

message 34: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin Watkins | 3 comments I’ve never understood it until recently I started taking pictures of quotes/moments in my books and realized maybe I need to start annotating.

disa⸆⸉ ౨ৎ | 19 comments yes !! I love writing small notes and thoughts in my books 🫶🫶

message 38: by Gypsy (new)

Gypsy (ignited_red_queen) | 25 comments I tried to last year but then was cringy about it especially if I wanted to resell or donate the book. I will now use the highlighting tape or tabs and if the book doesn't become a favorite I can easily remove them with no damage to the books. If I really love the book than a note here or there, but very minimal.

message 39: by Laura (new)

Laura Jane | 26 comments No because I read mostly through audiobooks lol but I kind of think I should. I tend to forget what goes on in them and how the end over time, sometimes I want to remember what made me love a book or hate it for that matter.

message 40: by Gabby (new)

Gabby Plazas | 8 comments if i’m in the mood to definitely

message 41: by Ashley (new)

Ashley R | 61 comments Depends on so many factors. Generally, I don’t; I like having the clean pages. Now, if it’s a long book or novella for class, you best believe I’m marking that thing UP. Gotta leave some funny commentary for the next person who rents Capote’s “Other Voices, Other Rooms”.

message 43: by Christine (new)

Christine | 93 comments I highlight and note on my kindle, and I want to annotate my physical books, but I don't want it to look messy.

message 44: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Coleman Yes, but I have started only annotating the book if it's a reread or if I read the first book in the series and liked it so that way if I don't like the book I can sell it
