message 2: by squeakers (new)

squeakers I don't mean to count them, but GR counts them towards my goal, so technically yes

‎‧₊˚✧ Taryn ✧˚₊‧ | 44 comments I do, especially if I read at least 100 pages

message 4: by Julia (new)

Julia Oliveira I don't count, if I don't get to finished. Otherwise I would have met my goal loooong a go

message 5: by bruna (new)

bruna (bruandbooks) i don't

Franki Lynn (franki_lynn_letsread) | 55 comments No

message 7: by Jules (new)

Jules | 30 comments Nah. Otherwise I'd be dropping books left and right (I have a hard time getting into a book at the beginning)

message 8: by fixitfelix (new)

fixitfelix (nikolai’s version) | 176 comments nope, im not really the type of person to dnf a book so i don’t really have a plan for when I do, but I recently dnf’d the red queen by victoria aveyard and I was 70% through so i might finish it as much as i really don’t want to 😭

message 9: by Amber (new)

Amber Mills | 9 comments No I dont x

kaylaa 🧚🏾‍♀️⭐️ (therealkayxc) | 72 comments Unless you’ve read over half of the book I’d say you could consider it. Although I personally have not put a book that I DNF into my reading goal. It would feel like cheating lol

message 11: by Live2009 (new)

Live2009 | 168 comments I dont add book I DNF I also feel like its kinda cheating as I didnt actually finish it no matter how much I read or how long the book is.

message 12: by bby (new)

bby | 19 comments Nope

Natilie Bell (claireannabel) | 596 comments If I've read over 100 pages then yes I count it

message 15: by Tayjah (new)

Tayjah No I don’t… if you want to you can

Erika (erikapencil) | 11 comments I don’t count them

message 17: by Kat (new)

Kat | 25 comments Nope I don’t count them !

message 18: by ★ raella ★ (new)

★ raella ★ i think it would depend on how much of the book i've read. if i've read a huge portion of it, then yes. but i probably wouldn't rate it if i haven't finished it.

message 19: by muna (new)

muna (itsmuna) I don't count them since I didn't finish. They have their own section.

message 20: by KD (new)

KD Crugar (multifankd) | 2 comments depends on how far I got into the book

message 21: by Whaiora (new)

Whaiora Rose | 12 comments Nope! I will usually read atleast 100-150 pages before I DNF a book, after that if I truly can’t push through I won’t count it because it doesn’t feel complete 😭

message 22: by Paige (new)

Paige | 23 comments nope

message 23: by KyoAi (new)

KyoAi ♡ | 778 comments I don't DNF books so no

Carrie (book_worm_mama_bear) | 2 comments no

Sofia˚୨୧⋆。 | 12 comments I do but only if they’re bad, like I wouldn’t count a book I dnf bcuz I was bored or wasn’t in the mood for it but I would count one I hated to never pick it up again. And also bcuz It wasted my time and my time is precious hello!
I rarely dnf books anyway 😭

message 27: by Nour (new)

Nour (nourelnesr) | 66 comments if it's not finished then no i don't count them. I have a separate section for books I didn't finish whether it's because i got bored or wasn't in the mood.

message 28: by iasmina♡ (new)

iasmina♡ | 27 comments i dnf books from like the first 30 pages so no

message 29: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn | 611 comments Depends on A. when I dnf'd. 50% or more, yea I'll probably count it. B. where I'm at with my reading goal. Here me out 😂 If I'm ahead of schedule in my goal, then no I won't keep it. If I'm behind... I might keep it around until I'm ahead again (I like to get ahead early in the year in case I hit a slump or take a trip that doesn't allow me time to read). But once I'm ahead, and it's coming up on the end of the year, I go back through and find any that I dnf'd and get rid of the dates I read it so it doesn't count towards my yearly goal. Helps me feel a little more honest 😂

message 30: by M (new)

M Myosotis | 16 comments Personally, I don't. The point of the goal for me is to finish a certain amount of books. DNFing is "did not finish" for me. I can't count a book as a completed read without finishing it, tbh.

message 31: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Howell (momo18) | 65 comments no, but i wonder if i should

Victoria ‎♡‧₊˚ (victoriaagosto) | 115 comments Yea, I took the time to read however much of it I read, it’s counting towards my goal😭✋

message 33: by raichu (new)

raichu (richierichh) only if i’ve read a large portion of it, and a lot of the times i finish books even if i dislike it, so it doesnt make that big of a difference in the amount of books i read

message 34: by T.W. (new)

T.W. | 54 comments no, that is cheating to me. the goal is to read x amount of books so if i didnt read it then its not calculated in my goal.

message 35: by Talie (new)

Talie Sanchez | 49 comments No

message 36: by Nowshin (new)

Nowshin | 107 comments no
but if I am half way into it or more than halfway in then I will finish it somehow and then badmouth about it in my book journal

message 37: by Zoé❤️ (new)

Zoé❤️ | 355 comments depends, if there was something in the book that was irredeemable, i dnf and give it one star, but if i just got bored then i dont count it

message 38: by ❃A.J❃ (new)

❃A.J❃ (bibliophagist) | 16 comments If I read more than half of the book and then dnf it then I might include it. As long as I'm rating the book. And I don't rate books if I dnf them too quickly.

message 39: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannxm) ᴺⁱᶜᵒˡᵉ wrote: "On Goodreads do you guys count the books you stopped reading or no?"

I personally don't. They go on my abandoned shelf and don't get counted towards my reading goal.

message 40: by Kate (new)

Kate (kgskocelas) squeakers wrote: "I don't mean to count them, but GR counts them towards my goal, so technically yes"

What puts it on your yearly reading goal is having a start/end reading date in this year, so if you delete those, it takes a book off.

message 41: by Kate (new)

Kate (kgskocelas) No, I only count finished books and poetry collections. I don't count comics (I have a separate custom shelf each year for those) or DNFed.

message 42: by Gianna ♡ (new)

Gianna ♡ no cause I'm embarrassed to even say I tried reading them cause they were that boring/horrible :|

message 43: by M (new)

M Myosotis | 16 comments squeakers wrote: "I don't mean to count them, but GR counts them towards my goal, so technically yes"

Actually I think I found a loophole. I made a separate shelf marked as 'DNF', so if you sort them into that shelf it won't count toward your reading. Then again, I don't put dates on my books, but that might be a solution for you :)

I feel the same way! I never DNF books, but I was reading Powerless by Lauren Roberts last week and I had to put it down. I'm more than 50% through, so I feel like it's a waste of time if I don't finish, but I also don't know if I can put myself through the rest of it lol

message 45: by Sanne ☾✩☽ (new)

Sanne ☾✩☽ (sincerelysanne) | 7 comments nope

message 46: by ali (new)

ali (_notafunnyusername) | 23 comments nope, but I usually dont dnf

message 47: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 57 comments For me it depends on how much of my time I invested in the book. I went back three days in a row when I could have finished another better book trying to hash through the dnf on my list for this year. I haven’t decided yet if I will count it, if I made it more than half way it will be counted. It was such garble though, I doubt I made it that far.

message 48: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Weeks | 18 comments No. That’s why I refuse to DNF😅
