Unfortunately it's not set enough in France for this task. However it is a good book so I hope you can use it somewhere!

Michelle (michellesoleil) | 361 comments Hi! I always struggle with percentages on tasks like these. I haven't read this book yet, but from the description and the metadata, it looks like we spend a lot of time in France in this one. Not sure if you've read it yet, but what do you think? :) Thank you!

I haven't read it but the description says "set against the breathtaking backdrop of 1920s Paris" so I think we have to say yes

Yes, that looks like the bulk of the story is set in France

I have read this one and it is one of my favorites. I believe it fits the percentage for this task.

If they are books with a substantial amount of text about a place or places in France, yes. Picture-type guidebooks are not really in the spirit of the challenge!

No, it's a travel guide - plenty of text. I know what you mean though. Some are not.

RedSycamore | 439 comments Just curious if this non-fiction book would work for this task:
Freedom and Neurobiology: Reflections on Free Will, Language, and Political Power by John Rogers Searle.

It's the transcription of two lectures originally given by Searle at the Sorbonne in Paris (one in French, one in English), and it was originally published in French as Liberté et neurobiologie.

This will not work for this task - if the lecture subject was about france, french culture, French history etc we could allow it but being transcripts of scientific lectures isn't really compatible with "set in France", despite them happening in Paris

I can't find a reference to a specific place, and apparently Basque Country is in both Spain and France. But the author is French and it was translated from French. Would this book work for being set in France?

Without a village name, or reference to whether it's northern Basque or southern Basque, it's hard to confirm that it is set in Frnace rather than Spain, so unless this information is available within the book, I think we need to say no for this one. Sorry

Thats ok. I was was just looking to see if any of my books would fit at the last minute. It does make a lot of references to french sounding villages, but because i have the audio it was hard to tell how to spell them and look them up to get a better idea.
