I'm writing a book and my author name is "Alina Orkid" but I plan to change it. Any suggestions??

Ember was my first choice, and I disclosed it to my friends accidentally, so now it's elora because my friends are judgy
@Ember - oof. I don't mean to judge but you shouldn't change for people (you can never please EVERYONE) I change for an ex - friend and its ruined me for life. I for one really like Ember. sorry not meaning to enter ur private life. but Ember is really good name, so is elora
Great question. I think my pen name would be either Mike Majors (an alliteration) or Michael Donovan (my first and middle names).
Ernest Hemingway, and hopefully sell a few thousand novels before anyone caught on... ;)
I just published my first novel, and I wrote it using my own name: Ian Houston. Never occurred to me to use a pen name. But I suppose if I do a drastic change of genre I could make something up… though I’m honestly tempted to just use my middle name and the name of a street I grew up on. It was my “secret agent” name when I was a kid. Would the same idea work for you?
@Brian - That's a good one! a few thousand? :O it takes professional authors years to write a book. but work hard and I'm sure you'd be able to!
@Ian Houston - Ooo! Congrats!! Hmmm, my "secret agent" name is a boy name (lol) and I'm a female so that wouldn't work for me. But it's a good idea
Mhmmmm it would be Sarah Rocks one because Sarah is my alter ego and she is the part of me that is creative, passionate and adventuresome. Rocks because Sarah stands firm in her ideals and creative spirit.

I would not use my name as the lovely Vanessa Miller
is already a best-selling author. I'd maybe use initials or my maiden name in combination with my married name.

If I ever publish a book, I'll go by "Maya B. Lionel."This is actually just a joke (or was at some point) and has nothing to do with my real name, but by now I'm attached.
Maya: my favourite grandfather's name is Inca (not his real name, but he was so interested in Inca and Mayan history that people eventually started calling him that), and my roommate once told me that she was very disappointed that my parents didn't call me Maya when they had the chance to compliment his name.
Lionel: every time I don't know what to write, my roommate tells me to add a flying blue lion, no matter how poorly it would fit the story (and also because my grandfather loves all of history and was the first person who ever told me about Richard the Lionheart in a way that got me interested, so, really, how could I not?)
And then the B. actually stands for Blake, the first non-binary character I ever wrote, and I love them so much, but if I abbreviate it, it could also stand for the blue lion, and that's funny and also has a nice flow to it, so.... Maya B. Lionel it is!
(And yes, I thought way to much about this, especially considering that I'm not actually planning to publish any of my stories anytime soon.)
Well Joyce was my grandmother's name, and she was one of my most favourite people in the world, and it's such a pretty name as well (I don't really se it for the aesthetic I know it's not very mystical lol)I haven't really thought about a surname yet, though, anyone have any advice on coming up with or picking surnames? Seems dumb to just keep my own at this point

I would pair up with another person and combine our names to what sounds best
Claire Goldstone. It's my middle name and a variation on my last name. Also the name of a character I wrote about when I was younger.
It would probably be something like Thorn. For sentimental value and because my actual name.

V. André Ferreira Monteiro, since I go (especially with family) by the 2nd first name but would treat what most people in life have called me as just an initial, also I would have my maternal side surname besides my last name as hommage to related writters on that side.
