Lisa Goldstein | 125 comments Hmmm. Well I only go to my bookstore every few months, see what they are willing to buy and get store credit. My shelves are full so I need to get my act together. If I see a book is on clearance or out of print or one I've never seen before, I may consider buying it. Also collect dvds and Blu ray as well. This is not a Barnes and Noble though. It is family owned and has an owner couple I like and a low yearly membership. I also shop at goodwill stores for similar products.
If a book is over 8 bucks it must be something I really want and I always use my calculator before I buy my stuff. But in my case, when I run out of spending money that's bad. So I try to have an estimated budget going in. Also use my libraries and inter library loan a lot these days. So go in with a set amount and try not to go over if u buy. As for the original question, I don't like buying new books from a chain like B and N. But I have never really stopped buying books completely.

Its a bit different if you are reading them but not making a significant dent.

Lock yourself in Alcatraz and throw away the key.

Janice Dudley | 31 comments It certainly is a real problem. I have more than 9000 books on my Kindle and I can’t stop downloading more. If it has 5 stars and it’s a genre/trope that I love I’m done for. At this stage I’m going to be reading 20 years after I’m dead to get through them all. I have a veritable small town library on my Kindle.

KGJR (kgjr9614) For me, it really only stops when the budget for things like books runs out.

Mariana | 26 comments I only buy ebooks if I know I am about to start reading it right now. Otherwise, it can wait. For paper books, it has to be a deal or rare and fit in my bookshelf. I donate to make space. However, I don't buy anything that's available at my local library. My household of four probably spends less than $100 per year on books, and we love books!
