Camilla (cyqua) | 85 comments I finished 2 books today and have added them to the Completed list - I guess we see tomorrow where everything fit best :)

Blood of Tyrants and Widow Basquiat: A Memoir

Hope you've all had a lovely Saturday!

JennH | 564 comments Hey, everyone. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

@Sheena - My day started off like yours, except replace that coffee with a mug of tea. :) And then I got in a nap or two bc my insomnia is finally catching up to me...

I moved a couple of books around, and placed Camilla's books. I hope I didn't confuse it all. And if I've done it all correctly we now have another purple bead! Yay! We're one off from earning a Black bead which I believe Kat is working on - or whoever else finishes a book first.

Camilla (cyqua) | 85 comments Good morning all, and happy Sunday and final readathon day!

@Jenn: Thank you for slotting in my books.
I hope it's OK, but I saw that if we moved a few books around, we could use the book sitting "alone" in the Blue tab to fill one more of the gold tab, so we more easily can complete that one.

I hope everyone who is dealing with snow and icy roads are OK!

From what I can see now, the main 3 prompts that are missing to also complete a 2nd gold and black bead are family drama, title found in BLACK and set in France.

I have found a book that works for all three and is relatively short Bonjour tristesse, so I will be reading that today :)

Kat | 567 comments It's the last day of the Readathon already. I have quite a lazy Sunday planned so I should finish Bad Blood and I Am, I Am, I Am. They both work for a few different prompts so we can see what needs filling in later in the day.

Ira | 361 comments Hi team. I just finished reading The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman.

message 106: by Camilla (last edited Feb 18, 2024 02:52AM) (new)

Camilla (cyqua) | 85 comments Well, Bonjour tristesse was an incredibly quick read - I just sat with my coffee and breakfast on the roof, and now the book is done :)

I've added it as "Set in France", but we can always swap around.

Will try and see what else I can find - I have made a pile of short books, and will try and read as many as I can today. Don't have any plans, so should be able to read a couple more at least :)

Camilla (cyqua) | 85 comments I finished a 2nd book Your Fathers, Where Are They? And the Prophets, Do They Live by Dave Eggers and it works for the prompt of family drama, so I added it to the last missing prompt for the 2nd Gold bead as well as a pendant and marked it as complete.

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2992 comments I finished Check & Mate which completes our second black bead.

JennH | 564 comments Woohoo! Last day of the readathon! We're almost there at the finish line!

Love it! This has been rather interesting - well, more like amazing - having so many team members across the ocean in time zones way ahead of me. I love waking up to see so many books having filled up the spreadsheet bc your day started so much earlier than me.

@Camilla - It's more than okay that you've moved books around. I've fiddled with the spreadsheet some more, so we're one prompt shy of getting another green bead.

You are all incredible. It makes sense that we might be slowing down a bit at the end of the readathon but you've all dashed in with so many books!

As it stands, we have 2 Purple beads, 1 Green bead (with one to go for another bead!!!), 2 Gold beads, 1 Pink bead, 1 Silver bead, 2 Black beads and 1 Blue bead. Obviously we've been having a lot of fun at Mardi Gras!!!

We've read 54 books (and counting!) and have collected 19 pendants! Wow!

Eta: Actually I think there's a problem with the pendant count. Camilla, can you check your hours? I think you might have entered your numbers for Sunday incorrectly.

Camilla (cyqua) | 85 comments @Jenn, indeed I accidentally put 126 hours instead of pages! :D
That is a bit much in one day :)

I've fixed it now - so it's 14 pendants instead, which is still pretty amazing!

I don't know if I have any books for the 18th century prompt, but will have a look at my shelves.

message 111: by Kat (new)

Kat | 567 comments I finished my first book of the day earlier this afternoon. I'm reading a book now for the 18th century prompt and hoping to squeeze in the last part of my paperback before falling asleep.

message 112: by JennH (new)

JennH | 564 comments @Camilla & @Kat - Great minds think alike! I just finished a book for the 18th century. And we have another Green bead. We can always shift if more books are completed.

I'm going to see if I can finish Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and there might be a graphic novel or two I might be able to squeeze in - if they fit prompts.
