Mikaela, daughter of Hel, is a unique demigod with a complex personality. She is fiercely loyal to those she deems worthy of her trust and affection, but her trust is not easily won. Her laughter is contagious, and those who are lucky enough to witness it can't help but join in. Miks has irregular abilities that reflect her unique parentage. She has some control over death and the Norse underworld, and can summon the spirits of the departed to do her bidding. Her powers can be overwhelming at times, but she is careful to use them responsibly and never for personal gain. While Miks may seem like a contradiction at times, her personality traits make her a valuable member of any team. Her loyalty and power make her an asset in battle, while her sense of humor and ability to lighten the mood can boost morale and bring a sense of camaraderie to even the toughest of situations.

Mikaela de la Rosa grew up in downtown Los Angeles, in a sketchy neighborhood. Needless to say her father wasn’t the best person, doing drugs and drinking, as well as abusing her. Each night he’d go out all day, leaving her alone since she was 5, since she was a functioning child who could take care of herself in his eyes. When he’d come home he’d make her clean. He’d starve her, hit her, and force her to sleep in the attic. Mikaela never went to school until after her father got arrested. One day, when she was seven and went to the grocery store to buy something. She didn’t want to, but she had too, since she ran out of food. She had slap marks, bruises, and cuts all over her body. When she went to the store, the cashier asked her where her parents were. She responded “my mom left when I was young and my dad leaves me alone”. The cashier noticed her many bruises and cuts and asked her if her father was hurting her. She said yes. The cashier found her boss and told him the situation. Mikaela was taken to the police station to tell about her father’s domestic abuse. The next day, when her father came home, she wasn’t there. The police entered the house and arrested her father, as she watched it happen.

Mikaela was placed in foster care, where she cycled through homes. She was scared of the foster families she was put in, scarred by her father. Eventually she was placed in an orphanage and was taken to Camp Half-blood by a satyr named Raine at the age of 10.
