It's a Solid Maybe | 4 comments In the trenches of my own manuscript, I realized my strength is in character development. However, I find myself wavering at driving the story forward-- those moments from a to b that make the story feel more real...immersive. As an exercise, I'd love to find someone--maybe a few someones-- that excell at storytelling but maybe find that their characters are lacking in depth or just want a different point-of-view.
All this to say: it would be (rather, could be) fun to build a story together; to complement each other with our own personal strengths and perspectives. I'd love to see where the story takes us and what comes out...an ongoing, back-and-forth, in-real-time critique--if you must.

Eh, maybe this is a terrible idea. But, then again, I've never met a terrible idea that didn't intrigue me, terribly. And I'm not one to shy away from strange, anyway.

Honestly, I don't have any expectations here except to vibe together and have a mostly positive experience coming up with a story--or at the very least, learn something in trying. In all likelihood, it will take several conversations and a certain degree of conversational chemistry to actualize a story.

Must be kind, communicative, flexible, communicative, kind, have a sense of humor, have a wide range of yes's, kind, and communicative.

If you think this sounds like a rad idea then feel free to message me! If you think this is a terrible idea, then I'll be sure to let you know if you were right... because you are probably the kind of person who needs to know that they were right.

Happy writing!

Ox W | 165 comments Hey I like your idea! I’m intrigued by the concept and I’d love to connect with more writers to help me get out of the writing slump I’ve been in. Like you I also feel my best strength is character development but I do have a good grasp on story structure and plot building.

What are your preferred genres? Mine are historical (usually 1800s onward), fantasy, romance, and contemporary.

Danielle Rose | 13 comments I'm looking for a very similar partnership - the only difference is I'd like to help someone plot and craft their own story while they help me to do the same. Like so many authors, I'm good at spotting errors and opportunities in other people's work but too close to my own writing to spot mine. I've read quite a few books on plotting, dialogue, building character etc which I'm getting good at applying to critiques.

If you're interested in helping each other out with separate projects, email me at 1991drb@gmail.com

Markey Daq. | 6 comments Hi there! I've been working on the same story since the pandemic started and your idea really spoke to me. I'd be more than happy to share perspectives and ideas about characters and stories and whatever else sticks.

Honestly, I'm fond of trial-and-error but I've studied quite a bit, so I hope there's some great experience to share. If you'd like to share some ideas and talk further, feel free to email me at markey.daq_1996@yahoo.com!
