Murder Casts a Shadow by Donna Doyle - 2 stars and a giggle

An older woman is murdered during purse snatching while on a PA small town christian church group outing from to participate in the Groundhog Day festivities in Punxsutawney, PA. Suspicion falls on some of the group members, though town librarian Kelly and her PO boyfriend Troy soon identify the true murder. This is 2nd in a series featuring Kelly and Troy, and there are ongoing small town feuds, politics and even criminal and drug activity that was carried forward trom the first and will be carried into the next.

Thsi wasn't bad, and in fact was an amusing light read with a fun setting (after all, how many murder mysteries are set in Punxsutawney on Groundhog Day?) but that is all it is. Plus, I now don't have to read the first because the plot and murderer are fully disclosed here. I might hav eto read the next - or at least the first chapters - to find out the resolution of the small town feuds and ongoing criminal and drug activity. This book could have used a bit more wrap up. This was perfect from my very tired brain.

Unlike IRL in 2024, Punxy Phil did indeed see his shadow in the book.
