Missing You question

In Harlan Coben's "Missing You," he describes the rise of Catfish in social media, even referring to the real-life situation of a Notre Dame football player becoming engaged to a person online that he had never met only to discover (and reveal to the world) that he had been suckered. If you've seen "Catfish" the movie or "Catfish" the TV show, then you've watched the stories pour out about lonely and sad people creating whole new personas. The shows feature cases where people are duped in love. In Coben's book, they are duped into becoming kidnapped, robbed, and eventually killed.
