The Nowhere Child - Christian White
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time - Mark Haddon
Boy Swallows Universe - Trent Dalton

I've added a poll into the group. I'm not sure if it's viable via mobile so maybe view the group on your pc. the voting will end tomorrow for our February read ☺️

Rob Rinder - The Trial
Thursday Murder Club Series
Curious incident of the dog in the nighttime

I just finished reading this and omg i LOVED it! I haven’t been able to concentrate and read and actually finish a book since I was a kid and it frustrates me because I LOVE reading. I actually read the entire book and loved it! So proud of myself! Definitely recommend!!!!

Synopsis - Lady inherits a large sum of money from a stranger she prayed for in a church with no connection to, including a beach front house in Wales, car, kayak and the rest.. but it has conditions against it. Raises questions and self reflection..
Reason reading - went to the book launch in Trafalgar Square with the author to be more spontaneous in 2024 (The launch was mid week, on a school night!? what's more spontaneous!?).
Would 100% recommend this book!

Chloe wrote: "I’ve only just stepped into Fantasy books, but after reading Fourth Wing (and Iron Flame) it’s literally all I can think about! I’m trying to get everyone in my life to read it!!"
I loved these books! I then read a court of thorns and roses, have you read that yet?

Fave books of hers and their big topics:
The storyteller (auschwitz, holocaust survivors)
A spark of light (women’s health clinic, hostage situation)
Mad honey (beekeeping)
My sisters keeper (if you saw the movie, no you didn’t)

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
House on the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney
American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
Little Voices by Vanessa Lillie
Educated by Tara Westover

Also recommend A Little Life, which is a book you'll NEVER forget. It's beautiful, but also comes with trigger warnings (sexual abuse, suicidal thoughts, etc). You shouldn't read this if in a bad mental space.

My top 2 recently read books are:
1. Project Hail Mary - Andy Weir (btw - would love to see a Science Fiction topic board if possible! :D)
2. Demon Copperhead - Barbara Kingsolver

It’s a retelling of Norse mythology from the perspective of Loki’s mistress and holy crap it’s good. I couldn’t put it down!
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Vampire Slaying by Grady Hendrix
This story takes place in Charleston, SC (a place I lived for several years, so it was cool to be like “oh I know where that place is” and stuff, but this bit is irrelevant). The title is about as accurate as you can get, except the story itself is more about the mental and emotional roller coaster the main character goes through as opposed to the actual vampire thing. It’s amazing, another one I couldn’t put down.
And if you’re into epic fantasy, I cannot recommend any books in Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere enough. I’m 62% through book 4 of an (eventual) 10-part series called The Stormlight Archive. The world building, the detail and nuance in the magic system, and the character and plot development? Oh my word 😅.

My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrick Backman was so beautiful!

Here are some of my faves of the last few years:
The Winternight Trilogy - Katherine Ardern (gorgeous fantasy based on Russian folklore)
The Locked Tomb series - Tamsyn Muir (lesbian space necromancers - unhinged and amazing!)
When We Lost Our Heads - Heather McNeill (hilarious dark feminist/female friendship perfection)
The Montague Siblings series - Mackenzi Lee (queer period dramedy).
So glad to be here with y'all!
There are so many suggestions here for books I haven't heard off, I'm adding them to my list of books to be read. It's nice to have more options than the same ones getting recommended on tiktok over and over

I second that. I've read this twice - last time like ten years ago and I still think this book needs recommending. :D
