I write out a whole plan month by month for what to read, (changes often though) but is that just me??? Or do you choose randomly based off how you feel?

It just depends on the author and writing style. Once I’ve become familiar with their work, then I consider reading more of their books. Sometimes I go based on which sounds more interesting.
I just randomly chose based on how I feel, unless I'm reading a series, then I have to read the entire series before I start on anything else lol
I also try to plan the month ahead! In my weekly/monthly planner, I try to plan out what books I'll read for the month and keep it on the side so I have space for other important reminders and dates. I try to alternate authors, unless I'm starting a series, and also sprinkle in non-fictions/memoirs/or just other genres I rarely read, that way I don't get into a slump with the same genre over and over again. My planning doesn't always work out because sometimes I just can't prevent a slump from happening, or a book takes me a day longer to finish so I have to adjust the schedule back... but for the most part that's how I choose what to read next! If I have books by the same author, sometimes I'll make a poll on here and let my friends vote on what I read next as well. Keeps it exciting
When im in the mood and I based it off the covers sometimes
I am not being really helpful but I decide what my mood is at the moment. Like which genre I want to read or if I know the tropes, what trope I would want to read. I am actually such a mood reader and start 5 books in a month just to end up in a reading slump :' )
It depends. If I have books that are checked out from the library or that I'm borrowing, I'll choose those because I don't want to keep them for too long. Also sometimes I'll have books that were on hold and became available earlier than expected so I'll pick them up and read them because I'd been waiting for them. If that's not the case, I'll good that random spinning wheel and enter the titles I've been thinking about reading and let that choose for me. Then I'll read what's chosen. It makes it easier.
I plan ahead for the month, but normally give myself a huge range of different genres and types of books. When it comes to picking my next read, I choose from that broad list depending on my mood.
I read like 5 books at a time so it's bother harder and easier to pick. - current Manga read
- book club that has set chapter limits
- an audio book
- purse book
- back up/ mood read book
book club we vote each time.
the Manga title is just whichever is the current hyper fix
nothing shorter than 6h for an auido book for while driving
backup book is an actual random dice roll queue up on my kindle
and the main book I'm reading is based on mood/ current trends
I download a huge number of books as bookfunnel giveaways and store them for a moody day. I tag them according to triggers (I am in the mood for…). I also download samples to check out for those times I just want 3 chapters because bedtime looms. Then I usually ignore all those and use these criteria to decide what to read:
1. Author’s emails. If they mention a particular book that matches my mood, I check that one out.
2. Book promos: If I am in between books and download a book that matches my favorite trope, then I open the book before I even think about anything else.
3. Facebook mentions. If people ask for a trope and I answer, I also check out the other answers and start a book that matches the trope…but only if I am in the mood for it.
I just choose what I feel. If I have books that I have been wanting to read for a long time but never get around to I'll pick one of those sometimes
I'm a mood reader I cannot plan books specifically because it never works I have to just go with what I'm in the mood for
I’m also a mood reader and I just pick a book purely based on the vibes. I tried to plan ahead before but it never worked out
I'm trying to get through my physical TBR, so I have all my physical books on mini books and in a TBR jar to pick for the month!
I'm mostly a mood reader, just whatever I feel like reading that day and then I stick to it until I finish :p
Since last year I have been picking certain books that have won awards, or were nominated for them.Recently I have been influenced by a certain BookTuber, who is kind of a moron who knows some good sci fi and historical fiction recs. Funnily enough he focuses on Fantasy but his Fantasy recs are crappy.
Based on what's on my Goodreads's 'Want to Read' shelf, ratings and reviews, book summary, what's available at my library unless I decide to purchase (last resort), how many pages it has, if it was personally recommended to me, and whatever genre I'm interested in at the moment per my mood.
TJ ❤️ books wrote: "whatever book on my thousand book hold from Libby (library) comes up next is what I read lol"this is so me im on libby too and i just wait to see whats available
I use spin the wheel app where I made a wheel with all my tbr books and spin or if just have something in in the mood for I read that
it depends on what I've just read. if it was an intense read, then I'm going to pick something lighter to give my brain and heart a break. I've also been trying to rotate genres regularly so that I don't burn out on my favorites.
I can't usually decide so I read multiple at once! But also I am on the waiting list for many books at the library, so when those become available I try to read them first so I don't lose my spot 😊
I read based on book covers. If I find an author I like I'll read those for a while until I need a change.
I normally look up recommendations or watch video reviews on books. Sometimes I’ll just look for what sounds best and try to stick with a genre I know I like.
I have a bunch of books on my bookshelf waiting to be read. If I’m not reading a series or I may need a break from a series I just take a look and see which one speaks to me the most. Just going it with an open mind I find I’m able to just pick up a book and start reading it. I also keep many different genres of books on my shelf (romance, fantasy, suspense/thriller, biography, etc…) so there’s always something I can grab depending on what I’m feeling.
Other times it’s I’m anticipating reading it (example new release that I picked up and absolutely want to read it)
