I'm glad it's only 2 chapters everyday. It's awesome book season after all and I'm already juggling a few new releases. Haha. I love 2024 just for the books.

Started this one today and got through the end of Chapter 4. I really dig the writing style (it's my first Rebecca Ross novel)! I'm a little confused about the setting so far - I can't quite picture a map of sorts in my head just yet. Not a fan of Roman being the sneak that he is but maybe it won't go badly when it's revealed (pure speculation but she's gonna find out right? lol)

up through end of Chapter 9: (view spoiler)[I am really digging the writing style of this author and am starting to enjoy the dynamic between the two main characters. I still am a smidge weary about Roman knowing who is writing the letters (Iris) and potentially taking advantage of that? Also still a smidge confused about the war component BUT how the reveals are coming are helping with the understanding. With Dacre & Enva - kinda getting Hades and Persephone vibes so far. I’m still annoyed that Roman hasn’t fessed up to knowing it is Iris with the magic letters. I like the little threads that are linking up and am still curious to see where this goes. (hide spoiler)]

up through end of chapter 38: (view spoiler)[I am glad to see that Iris's brother is presumed alive at this point which must be a relief for her. I am also surprised at how easily she accepted Roman and Carver being the same person. You just know stuff is going to go south here pretty soon for the two of them. I have 4 chapters left plus the epilogue and things are just tied up too neatly right now. (hide spoiler)]

Glad I am not the only one who didn't fully enjoy the book. It just didn't live up to its potential.
