Arfie Ghedi | 6 comments Hi everyone! We're a little under a month away from our February 27th discussion about "You Dreamed of Empires," this month's 1A Book Club pick. Hopefully you've started reading, but if not -- have no fear!

We're sending out copies of the book this week. If you want a copy, please give us a call! Tell us what intrigues you the most about this book. We'll pick a handful of folks to send books out to.

Call (855) 236-1212 and leave a message. Or you can use our app, 1A VoxPop. It is free and works on all smartphones. If you do, let me know so I can go find the message!

We'll need your help for this show! Here's how you can join the convo:

1) We're looking for listeners to be guest on our panel discussing the book.

2) We'll also play your voicemails on air. Send us your thoughts, or your answers to these questions:
- How would you rate "You Dreamed of Empires"?
- What questions do you have for author Alvaro Enrigue on how he crafted this world and these characters?
- What were your favorite moments in the book?

Again: give us a call, leave us a voicemail or VoxPop. You can also comment your thoughts here, and we'll read some of your messages on air.

So excited to discuss!

message 4: by Anne (new)

Anne | 1 comments I really enjoyed the book. It was totally not what I was expecting. I think the vivid descriptions of the time, the people, the setting were incredible. The names were challenging, but the name guide in the beginning was helpful. I did get lost in the intrigue many times and felt frustrated but I kept on. I knew there was a twist and couldn't wait to find out what it was. I felt that was confusing too. All in all my favorite characters were the women! That and Jazmin once he put his sandals on! I can't stop thinking about this strange book and pondering the messages in it. I was just in Mexico City and felt it was a good book to read to try to understand the place on a deeper level. Thank you for picking such a thought provoking book. I'll keep thinking about it.
