Is Paedyn in the right or wrong? Who's the better brother, Kitt or Kai?

Muna wrote: "She 100% did, and while I feel bad for Kitt she had to betray him, KAI is the better brother for sure, and he will not kill her even after giving up the most obvious reasons that she is a main char..."
i do agree wtih this because Paedyn is the main character so i dont belive Kai would look her in the eye and harm her, (i dont think he can even look her in the eye anymore) Live laugh love Kai 4 life

For sure! she was helping her people. end of.
for Kitt tho, dont diss my boy, cause i havent read the selection yet but it is next on my tbr funily enough lol. i love Kitt tho.
tbh Kai is just Aaron and Kenji mixed together, cause i was getting Kenji kishimoto vibes alottttt lmao yes i do know who aaron warner is, and kai is fr the best book boyfriend loool

Kai on the other hand is secretly (or maybe not so secretly) a hopeless romantic. The games seemed to be more about spending time with Paedyn then actually winning. He was raised to be a cold 'enforcer' but there is a heart of gold in him. I am so excited to see how hard he tries to push away the love/admiration he has for Paedyn.
I loved the last line Kai says to Paedyn "Do I haunt your dreams, plauge your thoughts, like you do mine?", "It's a good thing you're not here...", "Because I still haven't found my courage."
My heart broke. Kai wants to find her as Kai, but not as the enforcer.
No longer is he the future enforcer and no longer is Kitt the future king. When Paedyn is found they have to face her with their new titles and decide what the punishment looks like for the girl they both love. Also they are brothers...I LOVE THIS BOOK.

Not me kicking my feet and squeaking.
okay so i alsolove both brothers, Kitt is such a sweet heart and it also broke my heart that he got betrayed by the girl he was obviously in love with, and Kai is totally a hopless romantic.
also basically all you said is my opinion lol AND I LOVE THIS BOOK TOO, im happy to say it is high upp with some of my faves maybe even my fave ahhh

OMG WAIT, I KINDA... WAIIIIT, girly dont get my hopes up, adena was like my fave character fr, i loved her and i was shaking with sobs after she died 😭😭😭 I hope youre right tho, why would she right a novella about her if shes dead throughout the trilogy? i hope youre right

What bothers me about Paedyn's betrayal isn't that it is morally wrong; it is strategically stupid, and Paedyn isn't stupid.
Paedyn's betrayal of Kitt does not make sense to me. Paedyn is developed as a highly intelligent, crafty girl. She has survived on the streets with her wit and physical ability. Am I really supposed to believe that it didn't once occur to her that if she betrayed Kitt, it wouldn't end well? Sure she felt guilty, but she never questioned the logic of it. She was so easily convinced by the Resistance to betray him, and I could spot their lies a mile away. Paedyn knew how good Kitt was, how much he cared for her. She knew he was listening to her and willing to change things. She also knew how close he and Kai were.
So seriously, she didn't once consider that he would be furious and it would literally break him?
Sorry, I just can't believe that. I understand the betrayal for the sake of the plot, but I feel like Paedyn is smart enough to have at least considered what it would do to Kitt. After all, she is the one who knows "Monsters aren't born, they are made." I think Paedyn is smarter than this, so it irked me.
Also, I wish the "twist" with Kai was handled differently. What would have been a great twist, and set up some really interesting tension for them later, is if when Paedyn killed the king, it was, “For my father. For Adena. For KAI,” rather than herself. That would have thrown pretty prince for a loop. :)
Also, Kai is definitely the better brother. Sure, Kitt doesn't technically kill, but he goes along with it and adores his psychopath father. Kai does kill, but he knows it is wrong and feels powerless to stop. Kai wins!

If she actually dies that will literally BREAK me.

Hi its me, lol i made the disscusion, and youre welcome HAHA.oh saints, i heavily agree with you there, her morals are not wrong but, COME ON! there is no way pae didnt think repercussions wouldnt come, it was not strategically planned. she basically used her stanky pickpocket skill to rob Kitt them she expected no conciquence to her actions.
honestly if i were Kai i would slap her for being dumb and then kill her for betraying my kingdom. imho.
not to mention both brothers are like, head over heels for her. like bruv. AND i hope kitt kills her for betraying him. WELP you have the srongest argument my dear girl, and i strongly agree

Thank you!!! I keep hearing all these comments about how her betrayal was the right thing to do, and I'm like... no! No, it was dumb!
I think it would have worked better if Paedyn arranged to have Kitt meet the Resistance leaders, but without telling him, and then they took him hostage or something. Clearly showing her being smart about it, but also not filling him in so he feels betrayed. I loved how smart Paedyn was, so the end was a let-down for me.
But I'll still read the second book. :)

If you really think ab it, it was a smart AND dumb move, if she hadn't betrayed kitt and just told him do you HONESTLYYY think he would have just agreed while the king was still alive? also if they did in fact take him hostage it would've backfired really badly, I think Kitt's smarter than that and he would've figured Pae was behind it. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO LITERALLY KIDNAP A FUTURE KING AND GET AWAY WITH IT?????????? defo not, even worse with the king literally all up Kitt's ass, I CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 2

i love the way you think and being honest, i think i wouldve held Kitt hostage. or even set up a meeting with the leaders, violence as a last result.

i mean if you played your cards right you can get away with anything yk. you could have kitts life in your hands if anyone came to rescue him

Yeah you could 100% but think AB how Kai would feel ykwim

thats the only thing tho. Kai is in the way cause Pae is so in love w hiim aahahahahha

Yeah so she wouldn't kidnap his brother cause she knows it wouldn't sit well w LITERALLY the future enforcer aka her lover

i swear he'd really kill her if she lay a finger on our kittypoo LMAO

EXACTLY BRO EXACTLY

I don't think that Paedyn should have kidnapped Kitt. I'm saying she could have arranged for him to meet the group leaders privately, thinking since she and Kitt have a good relationship he would trust her. Then when the leaders betrayed her (because they obviously were planning that all along) Kitt would be angry at her for not being honest and still lead to that breakdown. I just can't believe that Paedyn would so blatantly use him, betray him in such a obvious way (like, NO chance at all of her getting out of it), and then be like, "Oh, he knows I betrayed him! Oh no!"
OF COURSE HE KNOWS!!! That plan left no other possible outcome. And OF COURSE Kai is angry! I feel like Paedyn would have anticipated all that because she is smart, but in the book, it didn't even cross her mind.

Yeah I 100% agree but like at the same time she had sm going on too, the trials, KAI AZER all this ykwim but yeah she defo dind't think it through

Okayumm, read powerful rn i swear. Lets just say Laurn roberts knows how to write a love story to pull on heartstrings. I LOVE MAK PLEASE NO

also kai is 100% the better brother. kitt is kind and caring and so sweet, so i WILL NOT be taking any kitt slander thank you very much but i think kai suits pae a lot better.

YES!!! Thank you! I loved this book, but the ending felt totally out of character to me. Pae is SO MUCH smarter than that. Plus, I can't believe that she didn't even consider how much her actions would hurt Kai. I mean, sure she was trying to suppress her feelings for him, but she cared about him.

The way I screamed since you mentioned Aaron and Maxon in the same post!!! I love them both so much.
I can 100% see similarities between Kai and Aaron, but I have a hard time connecting those points between Kitt and Maxon besides they are both princes that have been misdirected their entire lives. I think it will be interesting to see how Kitt changes through the next book just to see his character development.

Why is everybody ignoring what a gentleman Kai was to Paedyn. All the comments and fanarts I see of them is when she is holding the knife towards him in the alley. And yeah this scene was exciting but this was the first book where i felt like the main character was actually a gentlemen. Like he put down his jacket next to him so that she could sit on it so her dress wouldn't get dirty and he gave her his jacket when it was raining or she was cold and that's only a few. This made him so much more attractive to me

Agreed. I loved finally reading a YA love interest who wasn't a controlling predator, but a guy who actually tried to treat her as an equal and respected her and helped her in the way she needed, not how he thought she should be helped. That's another reason the ending bothered me so much -- she genuinely cared about him, and I just can't believe that it wouldn't occur to her how much the betrayal would hurt him. Paedyn is smarter than that, and she cares about Kai more than that.

Absolutely not. Don't people..."
Fair point. I liked how Kai was with Paedyn -- I feel like he was a nice contrast to generations of Edwards vs. Jacobs crap. He treated her as an equal in their fights, she didn't let him control her and he stopped trying to. The torturing murderer is obviously bad, but I don't think it was portrayed as sexy, which has been the case in other books. Kai was disgusted by the things he did, and so was Paedyn. And I did like how it raised questions about the use of power -- the king using his position/power to force Kai to do these things, and then Kai having the power to do these terrible things that he hates, but feels he has to. Although, I do wish the king had been more complex. He was basically an evil caricature, and it made him very boring to me. It also ruined Kitt's character for me, because if Kitt is supposed to be this kind, caring good boy, then how does he idolize his psychopath father who tortured his little brother and made him into a murderer? The queen sucked for the same reason.

okay so honestly, who's the better brot..."
Honestly I do think that Kai is the "better brother", although I do not like the plot the book ended on. In my opinion, the outcome of the events was largely foreseeable? As anticipated, Kai will refrain from taking her life.

Yes, agreed!!
In light of Paedyn's recent actions, I am curious to learn how Kitt will respond. Will he require a period of reflection and confrontation similar to Kai, or will he handle the situation differently? It appears that he is more concerned about Kai catching her due to their mutual affection. What do yall think??

Absolutely not...."
Yes, I think that is so true. I think this book does beautifully portray the characters for who they were and I also love how it showed the two different perspectives.

okay so honestly, who's the better brot..."
Honestly, even though i feel horrible for what happened to Kitt, i feel like Paedyn needed to do what she did in order to make a change, and all the while i dont like how she went about it, she did what she needed to, and even though i love Kitt soooo much, i feel like Kai is an easy win here, and he will never be able to kill Paedyn.

Yeah, I totally get what you mean! I haven't read reckless yet, so I will see what happens in that book, hopefully I will get it soon and find out what happens between them.

OMG yesss that's the best description of him Ive seen so far!

OMG yesss that's the best description of him Ive seen so far!"
Yes, that is so real, I had never thought of him like that, but now that I think of it, it really does make sense.

okay so honestly, who's the better brother? Kitt is super cute and nice, he wears his heart on his sleeve with open affection. Kai is quite the opposite, he's a dark, handsome enforcer that uses carefully crafted masks to hide his emotions. gimme your honest opinionssss???
