Hannah | 3371 comments Following the end of the Great War, Bess journeys to Ireland to attend the wedding of her friend, who was one of the nurses she met during the course of the war. But following the 1916 Easter Rising, her parents are understandably worried about allowing Bess to attend the wedding. Upon Bess’s arrival before the wedding, she is greeted with the news that the groom has disappeared, no-one knows where he is, and time is running out to find him. Simon does, of course, make an appearance, and he and Bess finally realise what they want from each other. There is a lot of action in this book, and the dangerous political atmosphere is very well written, with a level of suspense that was not in the previous books in this series. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series, which is currently the last one published.
