Mickayla Workman (mmickkaylaa) | 5 comments I have a few books I have dnfed but not very many because I hate DNFing books but when you do DNF do you track it as read or not for your yearly challenge? I normally don’t but I wanted to see everyone else’s take

ashleighnovember | 52 comments No, I don’t count them. But if you do, that’s okay. :)

message 3: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I used to count them as read along with a review and all. Last few months I slowly deleted all such books.

Drew (Taylor's version)✨ | 71 comments If I get over halfway I count them :)

message 5: by Rori (new)

Rori | 121 comments I don't remember if I did it or not cuz I try to read them books even if I hate them.

but can you even write a review in GR of books if you don't add them as read??

I've seen some of the reviews where people are saying could not finish, had to DNF... etc I don't know if they just wrote the reviews or had to add them as read in their profile.

message 6: by luna ♡ (new)

luna ♡ iff its over 1/2way i count it

message 7: by Meera (new)

Meera | 16 comments no because i didn't read them. Unless they were too horrible and I needed to rant about their awfulness, then yes.

message 8: by Lola (new)

Lola | 2 comments Personally I don't include my DNFs

message 9: by ratnapping (new)

ratnapping | 51 comments I count them but mainly just for my own tracking so I don't pick it up again. like. oo maybe I was wrong it does sound kinda interesting but no I gave it one star it was that bad let's move on.

message 10: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (socks_reading) | 11 comments I created a new 'shelf' and log them on there instead - they dont get counted in my target then. I don't tend to review them as I haven't read the book so can comment on what I don't now.

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 16 comments You can create an exclusive shelf that will appear with your Read, want to Read and Currently reading lists. I only found this out recently and it’s been great for tidying up my Currently Reading shelf because that’s where my DNF books were staying for the time being. I couldn’t count them as read

message 12: by 5445 (new)

5445 (goyonyongo) | 11 comments no, instead I put them on my "dropped" shelf

message 13: by tash (new)

tash | 75 comments personally i do because i’ve read them before DNFing

message 14: by faye (new)

faye | 262 comments not usually bc i tend to dnf books pretty early on and personally unless i’ve read like 80% of the book i wouldn’t count it

message 15: by Hibbah (new)

Hibbah | 3 comments I add it if I've read over half of it but I just don't rate it

message 16: by c (new)

c | 13 comments I will only count them if I get like 50-60% of the way through and if I review it I will state that I only read up to that point.

message 17: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (biancadelafontaine) | 63 comments I don't but even if I don't like a book I don't DNF them

message 18: by ☆ Teha ☆ (new)

 ☆ Teha ☆ (tehadivine) | 32 comments I don't, but I do have a shelf for them.

message 19: by Maddy (new)

Maddy (maddzzy) | 157 comments If I’m over half way and if I’ve already “predicted” the ending then yes

Brittny's Book Talk | 1980 comments I don't. I remove the book from my shelves, then review if I decide to DNF.

message 21: by aligreads (new)

aligreads | 19 comments I don’t dnf for this reason😅 if I didn’t finish it, I don’t count it. I just struggle and cry through the bad books😭

message 22: by Angie.andbooks (new)

Angie.andbooks | 76 comments Yes 🤷‍♀️

message 23: by ely_isa_beth (new)

ely_isa_beth no, I don't

message 24: by The Book Villain (new)

The Book Villain It depends how far I get into a book; but anything past half way I will and then save them on my DNF shelf.
I do with there was a DNF option instead of having to choose Read vs removing it.

message 25: by NuNu (new)

NuNu | 125 comments no, i don 't.

message 26: by Summer (new)

Summer | 196 comments no cuz u haven't read it

message 27: by Emma Griffioen (new)

Emma Griffioen (emmagriffioen) | 557 comments Depends how far through the book I am, if its more then 50% than usually. If its a book I know I will go back and read later I don't.

message 28: by Zahra (new)

Zahra | 116 comments Personally I have a bad habit where I can’t dnf a book I just have to get through it and one day I finally finish it and never read it again that’s just me.

message 29: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn | 611 comments Depends where I’m at with my reading goal, which I know probably sounds super shady 😂 but if I’m behind or right on track with my goal, I’ll typically leave it as “read” (also depends on what percentage I dnf’d less than 50% no, more than 50% yes). However, if I’m ahead in my reading goal by the end of the year, I’ll actually remove the ones that I dnf’d or finished but severely hated

message 30: by Kim♡ya (new)

Kim♡ya (kim-3) | 10 comments I only count or rate them if I finish them, but it's okay if you or others count and rate them. No right or wrong way. To each their own.

message 31: by KyoAi (new)

KyoAi ♡ | 778 comments Not that I do dnf any books but if I did then yes.

message 32: by Georgia :) (new)

Georgia :) | 1 comments i don't because for me to count it as read i have to finish the entire thing

message 33: by Gabby (new)

Gabby | 29 comments If I DNF @ 70% and above, yes!

message 34: by Nirali ᥫ᭡ (new)

Nirali ᥫ᭡ (delulureader) | 107 comments I count them if I read more than 50% of it

Yeehawwlovesbooks | 449 comments No I do not count it. I normally give books a second chance unless I am 100% not vibing with it.

lilly ♡ (semi-hiatus, reading slump) | 533 comments I have a DNF tag i put them in

message 37: by Alex (last edited Apr 07, 2024 10:27AM) (new)

Alex | 3 comments depends on how much of the book I read, if it's over 60/70% I do, but I have a DNF tag and write the percentage on the review if I write one

EDIT: nevermind, just figured out you can make shelves exclusive, so now my DNF shelf is exclusive - books I DNF only show up on that one, not on the read one
